Where You Will Work

Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford Arizona on U.S. Highway 191 Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.

What You Will Do

• Perform diagnostic maintenance and repair of heavy equipment such as but not limited to: Haul Trucks Water Trucks Rubber Tire and Track Dozers Front-end Loaders and Motor Graders.
• Perform the removal repair and installation of transmissions engines breaks differentials pumps motors torque convertors final drives and other heavy equipment systems or components.
• Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance on machine systems such as: hydraulic power train and engines.
• Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed.
• Responsible for maintaining work orders and performing work area inspections.
• Operate mobile equipment such as: Overhead cranes forklifts and boom trucks.
• Perform welding such as: Carbon arc Plasma Mig Tig and Stick.
• Perform as a Fill-in Supervisor as required.
• Train and mentor other employees.
• Perform other duties as required.

What You Bring To Freeport

• Two (2) years experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts (including welder boilermaker machinist or facility maintenance/construction) or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
• Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required mechanical aptitude.
• HEM Diagnostic Mechanic I: Practical Skills Assessments defined in LOP.
• Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English
• Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments job procedures and applicable safety standards
• Ability to prioritize repairs and possess excellent decision-making skills
• Ability to troubleshoot machine systems
• Ability to work and effectively communicate with others
• Ability to read and use blueprints

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED

What We Offer You

The estimated pay range for this role is currently$28.00 - $38.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience qualifications skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
