What You Will Do:
Guidehouse is seeking a Health Scientist Associate to support a federal public health surveillance program focused on neurological conditions. This role will support scientific epidemiologic and operational activities that help a federal health client develop document analyze and communicate surveillance information. The Health Scientist will work with neuroepidemiology data analytics clinical communications and program management team members to support literature reviews evidence synthesis documentation quality control scientific writing and dissemination of surveillance findings.
Responsibilities may include:
Support neuroepidemiology and surveillance science activities related to neurological condition surveillance including Parkinsons disease multiple sclerosis and other potential neurological conditions.
Conduct literature searches screen scientific articles abstract relevant information maintain evidence tables and support systematic or targeted review activities.
Assist with development refinement and documentation of case definitions abstraction tools research protocols review criteria decision logs and quality control materials.
Support preparation and interpretation of surveillance-related materials including analytic summaries tables figures charts maps dashboards manuscript inputs and presentation materials.
Review scientific and technical materials for clarity accuracy consistency formatting and alignment with approved methods or templates.
Support data analytics and visualization teams by helping document methods review outputs organize findings maintain trackers and prepare materials for client review.
Help maintain SOPs publication trackers review logs evidence gap materials meeting notes project plans work plans and documentation repositories.
Support manuscript report and presentation development by drafting sections compiling references coordinating inputs and resolving comments.
Support stakeholder-facing and dissemination products that translate complex surveillance information into clear audience-appropriate materials.
Coordinate with senior staff and workstream leads to track assignments manage deadlines prepare status updates and escalate questions or risks.
Deliver high-quality client service in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment while producing accurate organized and well-documented work products.
What You Will Need:
Bachelors degree in public health epidemiology health science biology neuroscience psychology health services research statistics or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in public health health science epidemiology surveillance research support evidence synthesis scientific writing or federal consulting.
Experience supporting literature reviews research documentation public health projects scientific writing data review or technical deliverables.
Ability to review organize summarize and synthesize scientific or technical information.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate well-organized deliverables.
Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a client-service environment.
Ability to work collaboratively with senior staff analysts epidemiologists communications specialists and project managers.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint Teams and SharePoint or similar collaboration and documentation tools.
Ability to obtain and maintain a NACI clearance.
What Would Be Nice To Have:
Masters degree in public health epidemiology health science neuroscience health services research biostatistics or a related field.
Experience supporting CDC HHS or another federal public health agency.
Experience with neurological conditions neuroepidemiology chronic disease surveillance claims-based surveillance public health research or population health.
Experience conducting systematic reviews targeted reviews article screening data abstraction evidence synthesis or reference management.
Experience developing or maintaining evidence tables abstraction forms SOPs decision logs trackers review protocols or documentation repositories.
Experience supporting manuscript development scientific reports conference abstracts slide decks meeting summaries or public health communications.
Familiarity with scientific databases and reference tools such as PubMed Embase CINAHL PsycINFO EndNote Zotero Covidence DistillerSR or similar tools.
Familiarity with public health data claims data surveillance data analytic outputs dashboards or visualization products.
Familiarity with SAS R Python SQL Power BI Tableau or similar analytic and visualization tools.
Experience working on multidisciplinary teams supporting scientific analytic communications and operational workstreams.
