Under the general direction of the Assistant Director Health Promotion and Administration in the Klotz Student Health Center (SHC) the Health Promotion Assistant provides overall support to the Klotz Health Promotion (HP) unit and the Klotz Matadors4Wellness (M4W) Peer Health Education program. The Health Promotion Assistant will work collaboratively with HP staff and campus partners to support HP programming education and assessment initiatives.

• Provides support to Matadors 4 Wellness (M4W) Peer Health Education Program.
  • Teaches college health topics (e.g. stress management sleep difficulties alcohol tobacco and other drugs prevention sexual and reproductive health etc.)
  • Teaches public speaking and tabling outreach skills. Accompanies peer educators to presentations and outreaches. .
  • Assists with weekly meetings and trainings.
• Maintains Excel spreadsheets and files to coordinate HP projects presentations and other outreach events.
• Provides HP presentations and engages in campus outreach events. .
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

• Demonstrated ability to deliver effective accurate and dynamic presentations.
• Knowledge of traditional and emerging college student health issues (including stress; sleep; alcohol tobacco and other drugs; and sexual and reproductive health).
• Experience with graphic design of ADA accessible materials preferred.
• Ability to work on multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work some evenings and weekends in a 40-hour workweek.

Pay Benefits & Work Schedule

• Classification: 8145 / Health Education Assistant / Grade 1
• The anticipated HIRING RANGE is $4557 $4836 per month dependent on qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $4557 - $6508 per month.
• HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday. May include evenings and weekends.
• This is a Temporary position; end date to be determined.
