Job Summary:
The Head Tennis Coach leads AIMs tennis department and is responsible for ensuring that tennis programming consistently reflects AIMs mission of using sport as a vehicle for whole-child development. This position provides high-quality tennis instruction while creating a structured engaging and supportive environment in which young people develop confidence discipline leadership teamwork and other skills that extend beyond the court.
The Head Tennis Coach oversees the implementation and continuous development of AIMs tennis programming across after-school programming AIM Elite summer camp beginner and recreational programming competitive tennis and community recruitment events. The position establishes clear standards for court management player development safety and program quality and supports tennis coaches and volunteers in meeting those standards.
As the leader of AIMs tennis department the Head Tennis Coach works closely with the Program Director and Executive Director to align tennis programming with AIMs broader academic social-emotional and youth-development goals.

Responsibilities:
Tennis Program Leadership
- Lead and oversee all aspects of AIMs tennis programming ensuring consistent quality structure and alignment with AIMs mission and youth-development model.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive tennis curriculum and player-development progression that meets students at their current skill level and provides clear pathways for continued growth.
- Establish appropriate instructional progressions across beginner intermediate advanced and competitive levels including red-ball and other age-appropriate community recruitment programming.
- Plan and coordinate tennis programming for the after-school program AIM Elite summer camp community events and other AIM tennis initiatives.
- Monitor program quality and make adjustments based on student needs participation skill development and program outcomes.
- Maintain appropriate tennis equipment supplies courts and instructional materials.
- Identify students who may benefit from increased competitive opportunities additional instruction or participation in AIM Elite.
- Identify opportunities and coordinate AIMs participation in appropriate tennis tournaments leagues and competitive events.
Youth Development and Court Management
- Create a court environment that is structured welcoming challenging and supportive of all students.
- Establish clear expectations for behavior participation sportsmanship safety and respect.
- Use strong court-management practices to maximize instructional time and keep students actively engaged.
- Model and reinforce AIMs approach to relationship-building positive youth development and appropriate adult leadership.
- Respond effectively to behavioral challenges and conflicts while maintaining a calm consistent and developmentally appropriate coaching presence.
- Support coaches in creating environments where students experience both high expectations and meaningful support.
- Ensure that competitive and performance-oriented programming remains consistent with AIMs broader youth-development philosophy.
Supervision
- Supervise and provide day-to-day leadership to tennis coaches and tennis volunteers.
- Establish clear expectations for coaching quality court management professionalism safety and student engagement.
- Coordinate coaching assignments and ensure appropriate staffing across tennis activities.
- Observe coaching sessions and provide constructive feedback related to instruction court management student engagement and program implementation.
- Help onboard new tennis coaches and volunteers to AIMs tennis programming policies expectations and youth-development philosophy.
- Identify opportunities to improve consistency and quality across the tennis coaching team.
- Serve as a model of effective leadership and professional conduct for other coaches.
Recruitment & Community Engagement
- Lead AIMs tennis-related recruitment efforts in collaboration with AIM leadership.
- Develop and implement community tennis recruitment opportunities including red-ball events school-based activities clinics demonstrations and other outreach events.
- Represent AIM at community tennis events and other appropriate recruitment and partnership opportunities.
- Build relationships with schools community organizations tennis organizations and other partners that can support recruitment and program growth.
- Support AIMs enrollment goals by helping create accessible and engaging entry points into the program.
NJTL USTA & Professional Development
- Help ensure AIMs tennis programming meets applicable NJTL and USTA standards and expectations.
- Serve as a primary tennis point of contact with USTA Florida and other tennis partners.
- Maintain appropriate professional tennis certifications and pursue continuing education relevant to the position.
- Stay current on effective tennis instruction youth coaching practices player development and age-appropriate training methodologies.
- Participate in relevant USTA NJTL and other professional development opportunities.
- Identify resources partnerships and opportunities that can strengthen AIMs tennis program.
Administration & Communication
- Maintain accurate tennis-related attendance player information assessments and program records.
- Assist with tennis scheduling and coordinate court usage and coaching assignments.
- Monitor tennis equipment and communicate purchasing or replacement needs to AIM leadership.
- Communicate regularly with the Program Director regarding tennis programming staffing student needs challenges and opportunities.
- Communicate appropriately with families regarding player development tournaments events and other tennis-related matters.
- Participate in AIM staff meetings planning sessions and professional development activities.
- Follow all AIM policies and procedures including requirements related to child safety mandatory reporting transportation appropriate boundaries and professional conduct.
- Complete other duties related to tennis programming and youth development as assigned by the Program Director or Executive Director.
Qualifications
- Experience coaching tennis preferably in a youth or community-based setting.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a tennis court or group of young players.
- Strong knowledge of tennis fundamentals skill development and age-appropriate instruction.
- Ability to work effectively with players across a range of ages and skill levels.
- Demonstrated ability to establish clear expectations while maintaining positive relationships with young people.
- Strong communication organization and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other coaches staff volunteers families and community partners.
- Commitment to AIMs mission and to using tennis as a vehicle for holistic youth development.
- Ability to meet all AIM requirements related to background screening child safety and mandatory reporting.
- Willingness to obtain or maintain appropriate intermediate-level tennis coaching certification(s) as required by AIM NJTL USTA or other relevant governing organizations.
- Valid FL Drivers License and reliable transportation; must maintain appropriate auto insurance coverage.
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certification required within 90 days of employment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and Google Suite applications.
Preferred
- USTA PTR USPTA or comparable tennis coaching certification.
- Experience developing or implementing a tennis curriculum supervising or mentoring coaches or volunteers.
- Experience with NJTL USTA school-based community tennis or other youth-development programs.
