Job Summary

ROLE SUMMARY

The Medical Channel Excellence Lead is a senior Medical Affairs leader accountable for the vision strategy performance and continued evolution of the Medical Channel Excellence (MCE) organization.

MCE comprises four core capability areas: Digital Engagement & Channel Strategy Medical Digital Health Strategic Partnerships and Channel Standards & Digital Excellence. The role has a global remit with primary focus on the needs priorities and impact of the U.S. Medical Affairs business.

The Medical Channel Excellence Lead sets direction establishes priorities allocates resources develops leadership capability and ensures delivery of measurable outcomes across the MCE portfolio. Execution is driven through the leaders and teams accountable for each capability area.

The role collaborates with Medical Affairs leaders category and regional medical teams Medical Content Digital Analytics Legal Compliance and external partners to advance innovative compliant data-informed and customer-centered scientific engagement.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the Medical Channel Excellence Organization
  • Establish the vision strategy priorities and operating model for MCE in alignment with Medical Affairs objectives.
  • Lead the organization across the four MCE capability areas and ensure each capability has clear objectives decision rights resources and measures of success.
  • Translate Medical Affairs needs into portfolio priorities and provide direction to capability leaders responsible for developing and executing plans.
  • Build a high-performing leadership team by coaching developing and empowering leaders to make decisions and deliver through their teams.
  • Set expectations for accountability collaboration quality inclusion innovation and continuous improvement across MCE.
  • Guide workforce succession investment and resource allocation decisions to sustain critical capabilities and deliver priority outcomes.
  • Represent MCE in Medical Affairs leadership and planning forums and serve as a strategic advisor on digital scientific engagement and innovation.
Digital Engagement & Channel Strategy
  • Set the long-term vision and strategic roadmap for Medical Affairs digital engagement and channel capabilities.
  • Ensure the capability leadership team develops data-informed customer-centered channel strategies aligned with Medical Affairs priorities and healthcare professional needs.
  • Guide priorities for owned and third-party medical channels integrated engagement approaches personalization and emerging models of scientific exchange.
  • Sponsor capability development and innovation that improve the relevance reach integration and measurable impact of medical scientific engagement.
  • Ensure appropriate performance frameworks are established to assess channel effectiveness inform investment decisions and drive continuous optimization.
  • Remove organizational barriers and enable collaboration among category and regional medical teams Medical Content Digital Analytics and other partner functions.
Medical Digital Health
  • Define the strategic role and ambition of Medical Digital Health within Medical Affairs.
  • Set portfolio priorities and provide oversight for the evaluation piloting scaling and lifecycle management of Medical Digital Health solutions led by the capability team.
  • Ensure Medical Digital Health priorities address clearly defined Medical Affairs needs and support healthcare professional engagement patient care clinical decision-making or healthcare delivery.
  • Guide investment choices related to emerging healthcare technologies artificial intelligence digital interventions point-of-care capabilities and other innovative approaches.
  • Ensure the Medical Digital Health team applies appropriate evidence measurement governance quality and compliance considerations to its portfolio.
  • Advise Medical Affairs leaders on the evolving Medical Digital Health landscape and implications for strategy capability development and future opportunities.
Strategic External Partnerships
  • Establish the strategic partnership agenda for MCE based on Medical Affairs priorities and capability needs.
  • Guide the partnership team in identifying evaluating structuring and managing external collaborations with healthcare technology companies digital platforms healthcare organizations professional networks and other innovators.
  • Set expectations for partnership governance strategic fit performance value realization risk management and lifecycle decisions.
  • Ensure the partnership portfolio complements internal capabilities and expands the reach quality or impact of Medical Affairs scientific engagement.
  • Serve as a senior Medical Affairs representative in selected external relationships and strategic collaborations.
  • Enable cross-functional alignment so partnership teams can execute efficiently and within appropriate legal compliance privacy and governance requirements.
Channel Standards & Digital Excellence
  • Set the vision and strategic framework for Medical Affairs channel standards governance and digital excellence.
  • Ensure the capability team develops maintains and operationalizes standards requirements playbooks training and governance processes for medical digital engagement.
  • Provide executive sponsorship for governance mechanisms that enable timely decisions issue resolution compliant innovation and consistent application of standards.
  • Guide collaboration with Legal Compliance Governance Medical Review Digital and relevant medical teams to align standards with changing regulations policies technologies and channel requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate monitoring and performance measures are in place to assess adoption quality compliance efficiency and opportunities for improvement.
  • Champion scalable ways of working that reduce unnecessary complexity while maintaining appropriate quality and risk controls.

Scope and Decision Impact

  • Accountable for the direction performance capability development and resource priorities of the MCE organization.
  • Leads through capability leaders and their teams with those leaders responsible for translating strategy into plans and driving day-to-day execution.
  • Makes decisions that influence Medical Affairs digital engagement Medical Digital Health partnership investments channel governance and operating effectiveness.
  • Balances global remit and alignment with a primary focus on U.S. Medical Affairs priorities customers and business needs.
  • Influences senior Medical Affairs leaders and key internal and external stakeholders.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate demonstrates broad leadership experience and the ability to establish strategic clarity lead through other leaders influence across a complex matrix develop talent and deliver meaningful Medical Affairs impact.

Experience
  • Bachelors degree with 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical biotechnology healthcare or related industries including significant Medical Affairs leadership experience; Masters with 13 years; PharmD/PHD with 10 years; MD with 9 years
  • Advanced degree; scientific or healthcare-related degree such as MD PharmD PhD or equivalent preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading multifunctional teams capability leaders and complex strategic portfolios.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: digital medical engagement omnichannel strategy Medical Digital Health strategic partnerships channel standards governance or healthcare innovation.
  • Proven ability to set direction make investment and resource decisions and ensure execution through leaders in a matrixed organization.
  • Experience operating in a highly regulated environment and partnering effectively with Legal Compliance Governance Digital and other relevant functions.
  • Strong record of influencing senior stakeholders and leading organizational change.
Leadership and Technical Capabilities
  • Strategic leadership organizational design talent development and succession planning.
  • Deep understanding of Medical Affairs scientific engagement and healthcare professional needs.
  • Knowledge of digital engagement customer experience data-informed channel strategy Medical Digital Health and emerging technologies including artificial intelligence.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $274000.00 to $456600.00. In addition this position is eligible for participation in Pfizers Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 30.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
