The Head Lifeguard oversees the safe operation of county pool facilities and safety of all individuals using the county pool facilities. Monitors facilities and activities in swimming areas to prevent accidents and injuries. Maintains order and assists in the rescue of swimmers in danger of drowning. Administers CPR and/or first aid as necessary. Notifies appropriate authorities in the event of emergencies. Assists with the collection delivery and transfer of monies collected at the pools to the Countys assigned bank. Provides lead supervision for Lifeguards monitor activities at pool and functions as a Lifeguard. Participates in the selection schedules and assignment of Lifeguard duties. Provides instructions with pool operating procedures rules safety practices maintenance and related AND RESPONSIBILITIESAssists in the regular monitoring of pool water chemicals and makes required chemical adjustments to maintain safe balance in with the collection delivery and transfer of monies collected at the pools to the Countys assigned cleans and refills filter pit adjusts valves and performs other weekly equipment maintenance to ensure cleanliness and safety of pool water and surrounding with the supervision of lifeguards monitors activities in swimming areas to prevent accidents and maintains order; rescues swimmers in danger of drowning and administers first aid as facility and equipment for cleanliness daily; may clean and refill with the coordination planning and instruction of county sponsored swim other job-related duties as accurate precise operating and pool chemical handle sensitive and/or confidential records plans documents or decisions that require maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information. *The above information is intended to outline the general nature and scope of the duties required for this position. It is not an exhaustive list and may vary depending on specific job assignments and QUALIFICATIONSHigh School Diploma or (1) year of work experience as a Lifeguard in a recreational have Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.*Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered for the above requirements. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATIONSCREENING AND COMPLIANCEThe offer of this Bernalillo County position requires compliance with the following:Successful completion of a post-offer employment medical examination including a color acuity test (cannot be colorblind) and background to all County safety all FEMA training(s) assigned to this of a valid New Mexico drivers license by the date of hire and maintenance of a valid license while employed in this required supervisor training if CONDITIONSEmployee is outdoors 75% of time when assigned to outdoor pool or outdoors 25% of time when assigned to an inside duties are performed in a temperature-controlled environment; however worker is exposed to wet cement and mat surfaces while working. Outdoor surfaces include concrete asphalt ramps stairs wood decks and ladder hazards or potential work hazards include the exposure to dangerous emergency situations involving rescue hazardous chemicals and possible exposure to bodily fluids from persons with life-threatening work hours may be TOOLS AND MATERIALSEmployee handles writing utensils various paperwork files and reports in the documentation of statistical reports daily pool chemistry logs daily bank deposits and ordinary office record handles hazardous materials (possible cancer-causing particles) to include chlorine gas chlorine bleach hydrochloric acid sodium bisulfate sodium thiosulfate carbon dioxide gas sodium bicarbonate calcium chloride muriatic acid calcium hypochlorite and other such pool utilizes a filter mask when handling some hazardous chemicals.
