We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Secondary Guidance Counselor Intern to join our team. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for a graduate student or recent graduate to gain practical experience in a secondary school setting. The intern will support students in academic personal and career development working closely with experienced guidance counselors and school staff to enhance the overall student experience.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Masters program in School Counseling or a related field
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to build rapport with students parents and staff.
• Understanding of adolescent development and challenges.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Student Support:
• • Assist in providing individual and group counseling sessions to address students academic emotional social and career-related needs.
  • Help students develop coping strategies goal-setting and problem-solving skills.
  • Offer support to students dealing with personal or family issues academic stress and peer relationships.
• Academic Guidance:
• • Aid in the development and implementation of academic plans tailored to student needs.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to students parents and teachers.
  • Assist in coordinating standardized testing and interpreting test results for students and parents.
• Career Counseling:
• • Help students explore post-secondary education and career options.
  • Assist in organizing career fairs college visits and informational sessions.
• Program Development:
• • Contribute to the creation and delivery of guidance curriculum and programs.
  • Participate in workshops and training sessions for students parents and faculty.
  • Assist in the development of materials and resources to support the guidance program.
• Collaboration and Communication:
• • Work collaboratively with teachers administrators and parents to support student success.
  • Participate in team meetings and case conferences to discuss student progress and strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and progress.
• With their Supervising Guidance Counselor develop a Professional Growth Plan including objective outcomes and complete the plan throughout their internship/practicum year

Terms of Employment: Grant funded for 2026-2027 School Year 30 weeks 20 hours/week
Contingent upon passing post-offer background checks
