JOB SUMMARY:

In the absence of the classroom teacher the guest teacher provides instruction encourages student progress and manages the learning environment.

QUALIFICATIONS (minimum):

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Work independently and handle multiple priorities.
  • Implement fair and appropriate classroom management techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively with children as well as building staff.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

QUALIFICATIONS (desired):

  • An associates degree or 32 college credits or comparable experience.
  • Degree preferably in Education
  • Idaho State Teaching Credential

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Interacts in a professional manner with students and parents.
  • Maintains student confidentiality.
  • Works cooperatively with all school personnel and parents.
  • Conduct assigned classes at the times scheduled.
  • Enforces regulations concerning student conduct and discipline.
  • Is punctual.
  • Dresses in a manner consistent with school policies.
  • Maintains accurate complete and appropriate records and files.
  • Models correct usage of oral and writing skills.
  • Follows teachers lesson plans.
  • Take precautions to protect records equipment materials and facilities.
  • Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent and/or the Board deems necessary.

The physical demands and work environment indicated below are examples of the physical aspects this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions.

  • Persons performing service in this position will regularly exert 10 to 25 pounds of force to lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects.
  • This type of work involves walking or standing for extended periods of time; some sitting may be required.
  • Occasionally physical requirements include the ability to navigate multi-story buildings during an emergency.
  • Perceiving the nature of sound near and far vision depth perception providing oral information manual dexterity to operate business-related equipment and handling and working with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
All classified employees of the Minidoka County School District #331 including those in this position are at will employees meaning employment may be terminated by either the employer or employee at any time for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. This job description/classification specification does not constitute an employment agreement and is subject to change as the needs of the District and position requirements evolve. Employment is contingent upon Board approval successful completion of a federal background check and a pre-employment drug-free workplace screen. The at will policy can only be altered if authorized in writing and approved by the Board of Trustees of District 331.
