The ideal candidate:
- Holds a current Group Fitness certification
- Has previous group fitness teaching experience
- Can teach a variety of class styles
- Brings great energy and motivation to every class
- Has excellent communication skills
- Is dependable professional and a team player
Pay Range: $45.00 to $55.00 per hour (Depending on Experience). Rate based on experience and class format.
General Purpose:
Develops and assists members with aerobic and strength training programs. Assists in the safe instruction of exercise equipment.
Essential Duties:
- Guides members through initial and progressive training in the areas of flexibility aerobic conditioning and strength training.
- Instructs fitness and aerobic classes each week.
- Teaches proper stretching strengthening and aerobic exercise.
- Insures proper up-to-date and safe procedures are used in the teaching of all classes.
- Participates in continuing education seminars and workshops.
- Inspects exercise equipment and areas for cleanliness and safety. Performs light custodial duties such as wipes down equipment monitors cleanliness in pool area spa fitness center and locker-rooms.
- Choreographs exercise sequences and aerobic routines for aerobic dance and exercise classes. Classes may be either indoor controlled exercise settings or indoor/outdoor aquatic settings.
- Monitors classes in progress providing constructive assistance.
- Enforces all rules and regulations in a polite and professional manner.
- Represents the community associations fitness center at meetings seminars and events with the fitness director or in the absence of the fitness director.
- Assists the fitness director with special events tournaments recognition programs and any outdoor sports related activities.
- Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Performs other duties as required.
Education/Experience:
Associates degree (AA) in Physical Education or related field; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands:
Frequently uses hands; reaches with hands and arms; talks hears stands and walks climbs or balances; stoops and kneels. Occasionally sits crouches or crawls; tastes or smells. Occasionally lifts up to 45 pounds.
Environment/Noise:
Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate.
Certificates/Licenses:
National Certificate for Aerobic Instruction. AED CPR and First Aid
Job Knowledge Skill and Ability Preferences:
- Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
- Experience and exposure with wide variety of exercise equipment instructional techniques injury prevention fitness/wellness counseling and developing/interpreting personalized fitness/wellness regimens.
