Job Summary
Position Description: GROUNDSKEEPER - ATHLETICS
Classification: Non-Exempt ClassifiedBased on Experience 40 hours a week 12 month employee
Salary:Appr
Purpose Statement:To maintain grounds fields and other outside areas of the District.
Principal Duties:
- Dragging Cleaning & Maintaining the District athletic areas
- Substituting if necessary
- Mows grass trims trees operates a weed eater and performs other grounds keeping
- activities.
- Irrigates allathletic fields and maintains/repairs sprinkler systems.
- Assists with spraying by administering herbicides and insecticides
- Assists with fertilization of fields and turf areas
- Preparing athletic fields/courts for competition and practice
- Field painting and chalking
- Grooming synthetic turf
- Operates hand tools and other light and heavy equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Knowledge of grounds keeping practices and techniques.
- Knowledge of general safety rules and techniques.
- Knowledge of tools and equipment used in grounds keeping activities.
- Knowledge of and skill to administer herbicides and insecticides
- Skill in operating hand tools mowers and other light and heavy equipment.
- Skill in performing basic repair and maintenance techniques and procedures.
- Skill in responding to work orders troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical failures.
- Skill in communicating orally and in writing.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.
Job Requirements: (Minimum Qualifications)
- Driver Licencse (Required)
- High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)
- 2 years of experience (Recommended)
- Herbicide/Insecticide Spray Licensure (Preferred or obtainable within 6-months of hire)
- IVP Fingerprint Clearance card
Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following
physical demands: significant lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling; some climbing and
balancing; significant stooping kneeling crouching and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting 20% walking and 70% standing. The job isperformed under with some temperature extremes and some hazardous conditions.
