About the Department:
Campus Enterprises is NC State Universitys division of retail and hospitality organizations NC State Dining NC State Stores Lonnie Poole Golf Course NC State Student Centers (Witherspoon and Talley) and the One Card Office. Each department is dedicated to providing service excellence value and enrichment of the student experience in support of academic success.

The Lonnie Poole Golf Course is a University/Public course that is open year-round. It is an 18-hole 7400 yard course. This is an Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course and is designed to promote sustainability and to fit into the ecology of the natural environment. The golf course is also registered in the Audubon International Signature Program at the Silver Level.


Essential Job Duties:
Working at Lonnie Poole Golf Course means more than just cutting grassit means maintaining the home turf of the NC State Wolfpack. We are looking for reliable and hardworking individuals to join our Grounds Crew team. We take pride in our facility and this position is vital in assisting with daily golf course maintenance to ensure high-quality playing conditions and pristine overall course appearance.

Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Assist in all areas of golf course groundskeeping.
  • Perform landscaping sodding and general course upkeep.
  • Apply fertilizers and pesticides on and around the course.
  • Mow and maintain fairways roughs fringes and greens.
  • Conduct ornamental and turf pest control.
  • Maintain and repair sprinkler and irrigation systems.
  • Assist with fencing installation and maintenance.
  • Perform tree trimming and debris removal.
  • Operate and maintain golf course maintenance equipment.
  • Complete daily assignments independently and according to work schedules.

Work Environment:
  • Outdoor work environment with exposure to heat cold rain and other weather conditions.
  • Perform strenuous physical labor for long periods of time walking on uneven surfaces bending crouching or kneeling pushing/pulling of levers on equipment and machinery.
  • Lifting up to 70 lbs. frequently with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications:
Minimum Experience/Education:
  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary Special Qualifications:
  • North Carolina Pesticide License may be required and can be obtained within six months of employment; North Carolina Commercial Drivers License may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with golf maintenance/lawn care/landscaping.
  • Working knowledge and applicability of tools methods and materials used in golf course and ground maintenance.
  • Operational knowledge of equipment used: walking and riding mowers tee mowers fairway mowers rough mowers rollers bunker rakes carts push mowers and a variety of powered and non-powered hand tools.
  • Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities and assignments according to work schedule.
  • Excellent punctuality dependability and work ethic.
