Gross Anatomy Laboratory Specialist

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

• Associates degree from an accredited mortuary school

• Valid Embalmer License and/or the ability to obtain license in the State of North Carolina

Experience and Training

• Minimumtwoyears experience in embalming

Knowledge Skills Ability:

• Knowledge of North Carolina and Federal laws governing willed body/anatomical gift programs crematoriesand embalming.

• Knowledge of various embalming techniques.

• Knowledge of OSHA laboratory health and safety regulations and compliance.

• Strong organizational and reporting skills.

• Experiencemaintainingthe privacy of information and the confidentiality of records.

• Familiarity with and/or coursework relevant to human anatomy dissection isadvantageous.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Prepare andmaintainanatomical specimens (donors) through embalming techniques for dissection and clinical training.

• Maintain a system that allows for 100% accuracyregardingthe receipt issuancelocationand final disposition of donors and donor specimens.

• Assist the Director of the Willed Body Program with annual memorial service and arrange educational laboratory tours and outreach.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

• Will report to the Dean of the Congdon School of Health Sciences and the Director of the Willed Body Program.
