Job Description:

Summary:

The Storytelling Coordinator creates and writes storytelling content for the Baker School of Education (BSE) website newsletter social media channels marketing publications and other outlets. Duties will include: video interviewing alumni faculty staff students and alumni and for written articles; drafting articles; editing content; compiling the BSE newsletter; photography; creating compelling social media graphics to support content; posting to social media platforms; and other duties as assigned.

The student will learn and use AUs digital asset management systems (HootSuite for social media filing of videos and photos). The position reports to the BSE Director Strategic Communications and Marketing and may cover events onsite when timing allows. The ideal candidate will have experience with video recording and editing. This team member works across departments to source content that is timely engages and builds relationships with audiences and helps stakeholders in the influencer community better understand the transformational teaching and research conducted by our faculty. This position prioritizes and manages a varied workflow; stays organized; and communicates well with team members others in SOE and colleagues in the larger AU community. This student must be dependable organized and skilled with the Microsoft Office suite.

Essential Functions:

  • Compile questions schedule interviews with faculty staff students and alumni.

  • Interviews subject either over email Zoom or ideally in person so it can be recorded on video.

  • Edit videos in professional manner for posting on social media YouTube.

  • Assist with planning and executing of marketing campaigns.

  • Other duties as determined by the Department Manager.

  • Onsite for video interviews remote work flexibility based upon need.

  • May request occasional evening in-person or virtual event attendance.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • Part-time.

  • 10 hours per week.

Salary Range:

  • $20.00 per hour.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent time management skills.

  • Ability to work self-sufficiently on assigned tasks.

  • Knowledge of Word Outlook etc.

  • Comfort interviewing a variety of audiences: alumni faculty staff students.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Experience with social media promotions beyond personal use.

  • Video recording and editing experience.

  • Knowledge of or interest to learn social media aggregator HootSuite.

  • Knowledge of or interest in marketing influencing or visual arts.

  • Prior office experience is helpful.
