Graduate Assistant - University Sustainability Committee

TheUniversity SustainabilityCommittee (USC) is seeking a 9-month graduate assistant beginning August 24th2026 and ending May 9th 2027. The USC works to support promote and growDuquesne Universitys efforts to build a sustainable campus. TheCommittee is comprised of students staff and faculty and fostersopportunities for multidisciplinary engagement across academic units facilities and University leadership.

The student aid willreport to the Chair of the USC and will work 15 hours a week during the falland spring semesters excluding breaks and holidays. The aid is expected to dothe following:

  • Assist the Chair and USC in organizing marketing and hosting events
  • Attend monthly USC meetings
  • Grow the USC community and build awareness of the USC on campus which will include working with the Division of
  • Marketing and Communications to keep the sustainability website up-to-date and with campus allies to communicate event information
  • Maintain the Campus Produce Garden in collaboration with the Gardens and Greenspaces Working Group
  • Design and distribute posters and event calendars
  • Gather and catalog information to support USC initiatives
  • Track and record information regarding sustainability metrics across campus for annual reporting including the STARS
  • Report Greenhouse Gas Report and USC Annual Report
  • Take notes at USC meetings
  • Meet with the Chair each week

Knowledgeof Canvas Canva design and Microsoft Office especially Excel Word andOutlook are highly addition the position requires excellent communicationorganizational and administrative skills as well as an ability to work withmultiple stakeholders including students faculty and staff. Additional tasksmay be assigned to the aid at the Chairs discretion. Knowledge of Sustainability Studies is a benefit; howeverit is not required. The GA will receive a tuition scholarship equivalent to 12credits over the course of the academic year and a stipend of $3600 eachsemester (15 hours/week at $15/hour over 16 weeks). Pending continued fundingthe position may be renewable at the discretion of the Chair and inconsultation with University administration.
