Graduate Assistant-Applied Human Sciences

Job Summary/Basic Functions

Open to students enrolled in any program within the entire College of Education and Applied Human Sciences (CEAHS). The Department of Applied Human Sciences is seeking a Graduate Assistant. This is a stipend position for 20 hours each week beginning in Fall 2026. The graduate assistant will generally work a standard weekly schedule but must be flexible for things such as training and fine dining meals as well as some evening or weekend work.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be enrolled at EKU.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Preference for applicants with minimal daytime classes or clinical work.
• Ability to work some evenings and weekend.
• Food Handlers Card for Madison County Kentucky
• Reliable consistent access to a working VEHICLE during work hours and valid drivers

Job Duties:

• 80% - Experiential Labs and Events Supervision of students enrolled in food preparation courses. Assisting faculty/staff with laboratory tasks maintenance and/or supervision. Supervise and maintain food safety and sanitation. Supervise and maintain an efficient clean well-organized lab space. This includes laundering linens upkeep of composting efforts and inventory. Assistance with tasks related to Café Burrier the student-run restaurant in Fall semesters. Assistance in food procurement and preparation. Supervision of students in other lab spaces such as the sewing/textile labs. Obtain a Food Handlers Card/Certification for Madison County Kentucky through the Madison County Health Department. - (Essential)
• 20% - Office Duties to Support Faculty Aid in faculty research and course content development. Create professional PowerPoint presentations. Utilize Blackboard to create quizzes assignments and post course materials. Grade assignments quizzes and other course requirements using a rubric. Acts in compliance with University policies procedures and standards - (Essential)
