Job Summary

Role of Job:

Supports and coordinates the use of departmental spatial data related to land timber and mineral resources in support of KaMins business strategy. Utilizes knowledge of geoinformatics and experience to aid in departmental database management map creation special analysis and automation. Ensure members of the Geology and Land Management Department are supplied with accurate data and statistics required for day-to-day operation. Supports the development of new department procedures and roles.

Dimensions of Job:

Primarily in the United States especially the Georgia-South Carolina Kaolin independently and in unison with department manager. Reviewed yearly regarding performance project progression and department contributions. Coordinates with consulting foresters surveyors and others involved in property evaluations and reports etc.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports KaMins growth by coordinating the implementation of short to long-term strategies for land timber and natural resource spatial data management in accordance with KaMins environmental and natural resource management principles.
  • Structures analyzes and maintains land timber and mineral data by:
    • Utilizing and analyzing department data using a GIS based program.
    • Maintaining several dashboards to translate department data to other members.
    • Create individual data profiles for each property assigned.
  • Maintain the inflow and outflow of department data into a database.
    • Identifying and entering all pertinent department data into a designated database.
    • Ensure recorded data is accurate and up to date.
    • Pertinent data to include but not be limited to: Property locations property ownership mineral agreements timber agreements dill core data lab testing hauling asset valuation mineral reserves and lease information.
  • Assists with maintenance of non-essential property activities and related data management (e.g. employee hunting club academic field trips etc.).
  • Assist mineral resource acquisitions using specific and detailed data analysis.
  • Participate in quality safety environmental other human resource production and management programs as required for the safe efficient and quality oriented performance of assigned duties and activities.
  • Pursue Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunities and training; and assist with other CI projects.
  • Promotes KaMins vision principles and desired culture and builds a high-performance organization by developing competencies of staff and by creating a work environment that fosters motivation.

Competencies:

  • Bachelors degree in geographic information science geosciences data analytics or other Data Sciences.
  • Associate level experience in GIS database management and/or spatial data management.
  • Demonstrate computer analysis skills (GIS AutoCAD Carlson Mining Software Word Excel Access PowerPoint Azure Sql Sql Server etc.).
  • Strong technical comprehension and competence
  • Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage different and often conflicting objectives projects or activities.
  • Ability and desire to seek and obtain either: professional GIS license higher education degree or continuing education credits.

Working Conditions:

  • Works 90% of time in an office setting and 10% in the mining or forest field.
  • Occasional to frequent travel to other plant sites or properties along the Georgia Fall Line area.
