Job Summary
Position Summary
The Elementary Gifted and Talented Teacher provides specialized instruction and enrichment for gifted and advanced learners in grades 35 across the districts elementary schools. The teacher designs rigorous learning experiences that promote critical thinking creativity problem solving inquiry and advanced academic growth. The teacher also supports gifted and talented identification and assessment and provides Brain Boosters an enrichment experience for second-grade students designed to develop higher-order thinking and provide opportunities for students to demonstrate academic strengths and potential.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university required
- Valid South Carolina teaching certificate required.
- Gifted and Talented endorsement or certification required or willingness to obtain within the timeframe established by the district.
- Successful elementary teaching experience preferred.
- Experience with gifted education enrichment differentiated instruction and/or student assessment preferred
Job Responsibilities
- Provide direct gifted and talented instruction and enrichment for identified students in grades 35.
- Design rigorous standards-aligned learning experiences that extend beyond the general education curriculum and promote critical thinking creativity inquiry problem solving collaboration and authentic application.
- Differentiate instruction based on student readiness interests strengths and learning needs while maintaining high expectations for student growth.
- Plan and facilitate Brain Boosters enrichment experiences for second-grade students to develop reasoning creativity problem solving and higher-order thinking skills.
- Coordinate and support the districts gifted and talented referral assessment identification and placement processes in accordance with district procedures and state requirements.
- Administer and/or coordinate assessments used for gifted identification and maintain accurate assessment eligibility and service documentation.
- Analyze multiple sources of student data to inform instruction enrichment identification and program improvement.
- Collaborate with teachers administrators families and district personnel to support gifted and advanced learners and communicate information related to student services and placement.
- Serve as an instructional resource to teachers by providing strategies and resources for differentiation enrichment and appropriate levels of academic challenge.
- Coordinate schedules and services across assigned elementary schools to promote consistent and equitable implementation of the districts gifted and talented program.
- Maintain required student records and ensure confidentiality of student information.
- Participate in professional learning and remain current on research instructional practices and state requirements related to gifted education.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
