Ada County Highway District (ACHD) is looking for a General Equipment Operator - Rover to join our Paint and Grade Crews. At ACHD you wont spend your days behind a desk. Youll operate a variety of equipment work alongside a team and help keep Ada Countys roads and infrastructure safe clean and in good working order. And when winter weather hits youll be part of the team that keeps people moving. These are full-time non-exempt positions with a starting wage of $23.80$26.20 per hour DOQ.

What Youll Do:

  • Work with both the Paint Crew and Grade Crew throughout the year gaining experience in two important areas of roadway maintenance.
  • Operate specialized paint vehicles and equipment to mark Ada County roadways including lane striping crosswalks arrows bike lanes raised pavement markers and other pavement markings.
  • Keep paint operations running smoothly by maintaining and cleaning equipment completing daily logs setting up traffic control and work zones and helping monitor seasonal employees.
  • Pitch in with roadway maintenance projects such as crack sealing asphalt patching pothole repairs trench repairs shoulder repairs and other road and asphalt maintenance.
  • Operate a variety of light- to heavy-duty equipment including dump trucks water trucks street sweepers rollers front-end loaders jackhammers and winter maintenance equipment used for plowing sanding and de-icing roads.
  • Be ready to work when the work needs to happen. Early-morning painting and winter operations are essential functions of this position and may require working outside of normal work hours during peak seasons.

What Youll Need:

  • Must have a current Idaho Class A CDL license with tanker endorsement.
  • If license is from another state must be able to obtain an Idaho CDL by start of employment.
  • If no tanker endorsement tanker endorsement is required within 30 days of start of employment.
  • Knowledge of road markings asphalt processes crack seal and other road maintenance techniques is preferred as well as experience driving CDL vehicles and operating road construction equipment.
  • Any combination of education training or experience which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities may be acceptable.
