Our team of ophthalmologists optometrists and professional support staff handle all aspects of eye/vision care from general exams to complex surgeries. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Examines the vision and ocular pathways of patients of all ages for vision errors/disorders ocular diseases ocular trauma/infections and systemic ocular complications
• Monitors ocular health for systemic conditions
• Communicates with patients to get detailed case histories
• Uses ophthalmic equipment for diagnostic testing and subjective and objective interpretation
• Performs refractions for eyeglasses contact lenses or specialty lens prescriptions
• Manages fitting ordering and dispensing of eyeglass and contact lens prescriptions
• Provides advice reassurance and patient care on vision-related matters
• Makes proper and prompt referrals and provides adequate documentation as needed
• Directs dispensing opticians and clerical staff

• Knowledge of ocular disease processes and treatments
• Knowledge of prescribing and fitting glasses/contact lenses
• Knowledge of ophthalmic equipment needed to conduct examinations
• Ability to communicate with a wide range of patient personalities
• Ability to work in a high-volume optical setting
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• A strong sense of workplace professionalism and personal ethics

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree
• Valid state license to practice optometry
• 1-2 years related experience and/or training (preferred)
• Ocular disease management experience (preferred)
• Optical experience with prescribing and fitting glasses and contact lenses (preferred)
