Job Description

What You Will Be Doing

Handle a diverse caseload of general liability insurance defense matters with an emphasis on specialty lines.
Defend clients in D&O E&O and other professional liability matters.
Manage cases from initial assignment through resolution including investigation discovery depositions motions negotiations and trial when necessary.
Analyze liability damages coverage issues and litigation exposure.
Develop and execute effective litigation and defense strategies.
Draft and review pleadings motions discovery correspondence and other legal documents.
Conduct legal research and prepare legal memoranda.
Take and defend depositions and participate in hearings mediations and other proceedings.
Communicate regularly with clients insurance carriers claims professionals opposing counsel experts and other stakeholders.
Manage case deadlines budgets and billable-hour requirements.
Work collaboratively with other attorneys and legal professionals to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
Contribute to the continued growth of the firms specialty-lines practice.

Experience You Will Need

Required

5 years of experience practicing insurance defense in Illinois.
Active Illinois Bar admission.
Strong background in general liability defense litigation.
Experience independently managing litigation matters.
Strong legal research writing negotiation and courtroom skills.
Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to meet the firms 1950 annual billable-hour requirement.

Preferred

Experience with Directors & Officers (D&O) litigation.
Experience with Errors & Omissions (E&O) / professional liability matters.
Specialty-lines insurance defense experience.
Indiana Bar admission is preferred.
Existing book of business or demonstrated ability to develop business.
Experience working directly with insurance carriers claims professionals and sophisticated corporate clients.
