Job Summary

JOB TITLE -General Education Associate

CLASSIFICATION -Classified

FLSA STATUS - Non-Exempt

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR - Building Principal

RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM - Building administrators district leadership

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION -Under general supervision provide supervision for students across the school day - practicing skills with small groups of students providing supervision for lunch and recess and working collaboratively with a team to meet the needs of a building.

Skills Knowledge and Abilities

  1. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  2. Must be able to interact positively with students teachers parents and other stakeholders.
  3. Knowledge of district policies and procedures.

Education

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

  1. Some experience with supervising children preferred.

Equipment

  1. Office equipment such as computers two-way radios multi-line phone system cell phone copier and fax machines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES -

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  1. Supervise students in hallways lunchroom playground and classroom as needed.
  2. Work with students on academic skills.
  3. Assist teacher in supervision of student on field trips.
  4. Assist classroom teacher and students in cleaning up after special projects.
  5. Monitor and communicate supply and material needs.
  6. Assist classroom teacher(s) in maintaining classrooms supplies and materials as needed.
  7. Assist the main office with any projects or assignments as needed.
  8. Maintain student work areas in a neat and orderly manner.
  9. Report incidents of an unusual nature to the teacher and principal.
  10. Maintain confidentiality.
  11. Maintain a reliable attendance record.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION OF OTHERS -

  1. None

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS -

  1. Repetitious bending lifting and hand movement.
  2. Ability to work while standing moving and/or walking.
  3. Drug tobacco and alcohol-free while working.
  4. Must be able to see and hear within normal limits with or without corrective lenses or hearing aids.
  5. Ability to operate a motor vehicle used to travel between sites.

WORKING CONDITIONS -

  1. Majority of work is performed in an office or school setting.
  2. Occasional meetings outside the school day.
  3. Occasional exposure to body fluids fumes noise and hazardous materials and emergency situations.
