Through its two divisions (Carlin Combustion and HydroLevel Co.) Cowles Operating Company a wholly owned subsidiary of C. Cowles and Company is a leading manufacturer in the heating industry (oil gas and biofuel burners safety controls used in residential commercial and industrial heating). Cowles Operating Company is located in North Haven Connecticut in a modern 220000 sq. foot facility housing our factory laboratory and office space. Cowles Operating Companys divisions maintain leadership roles in the industries they serve.
Summary:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Fits and assembles involved parts and components to build various types of equipment/controls.
- Installs wiring and final electronic components.
- Works from samples and verbal instructions.
- Performs testing as required.
- Work is usually short cycle and repetitive.
- Reports materials equipment or process problems to supervisor.
- Perform any variety of operations within the department to maintain workflow.
- Keep work area in a clean and orderly condition.
- Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations.
- Perform other similar or related duties as required or directed.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands:
The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision and Depth perception. While performing the duties of this Job the employee is regularly required to stand and sit and have the ability to stretch and reach with hands arms and fingers. The employee is frequently required to walk; sit talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop kneel crouch or crawl.

Desired Qualifications:
Communication Skills:
The ideal candidate should have strong communication skills particularly in English. While Spanish language skills are a plus they are not mandatory for this position. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers clients and other employees of the organization.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form.
