Job Summary

KIPP Massachusetts seeks both internal and external candidates for our school leadership pipeline pool for our Lynn MA schools. Our School Leadership pipeline includes Assistant Principal Dean and Principal roles. Please note this posting is for our School Leadership pipeline pool meaning while our team has not yet identified openings for school leadership positions we will interview potential candidates for future possible openings. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

For a variety of roles within the KIPP Massachusetts School Leadership Pipelines your core responsibilities may include:

Teacher Development and Management 

  • Providing instructional leadership by coaching and developing teachers (Lead Teachers and/or Teaching Fellows) through observation modeling analyzing data co-planning and co-teaching

  • Supporting teachers with classroom management culture and discipline

  • Planning and leading professional development

  • Developing content and managing logistics for school-wide assessments

  • Collecting and analyzing student achievement data and using data to drive recommendations for instruction

  • Formally supervising teachers (including performance evaluations at least twice per year)

  • Developing and enforcing systems of accountability for staff including partnering with Human Resources to implement progressive discipline when necessary

 

School and Community Culture 

  • Assisting or leading in teacher recruitment hiring and termination

  • Serving as a liaison for parent concerns and communication

  • Noticing and naming school wide staff- or student-culture trends 

  • Acting on behalf of School and Regional Leaders on school-wide issues including but not limited to student intervention and family engagement

  • Build relationships with families teachers students regional staff and community stakeholders to promote a collaborative approach to supporting students academic social and emotional development

  • Promote strong culture through the management of parts of the daily school operations including but not limited to arrival/dismissal lunch/recess school trips school events etc.

 

School Leadership Responsibilities

  • Support the development of the school-wide vision and take an active role in investing and mobilizing teachers to achieve the collective goals of the school

  • Own/support the implementation of school priorities in support of the school-wide vision

  • Provide input and feedback into the strategic planning of the school and identify areas of ownership for self and direct reports

  • Working closely with other Leaders on day-to-day school-wide issues and representing a united school leadership team

  • Working closely on the Leadership Team to ensure a joyful supportive and safe school experience for all staff and students

 

Regional Responsibilities

  • Embody KIPP MAs Code of Conduct by acting with integrity leading with humanity centering self-awareness and critical consciousness taking personal responsibility and engaging productively

  • Obtain required Admin SEI endorsement

  • Participate and engage in regional professional development and community events as required

  • Demonstrate ability to collect and interpret data evaluate reason define problems establish facts draw valid conclusions and make reasonable judgments and decisions in a timely manner in accordance with the needs of the school

  • Utilize self-awareness flexibility and emotional intelligence to navigate a setting with students who express diverse needs

  • Consistently use interpersonal and self-management skills to effectively support behavioral and emotional needs of students to ensure a safe and inclusive environment as well as build relationships and manage conflict with students staff and caregivers

  • Demonstrate effective communication skills to perform assigned duties and to meaningfully exchange information with students staff families and others in person through written communication in front of groups and on virtual platforms

  • Physical mobility to move self in various positions in order to execute duties effectively which may include kneeling walking pushing/pulling squatting twisting turning bending stooping and reaching overhead

  • Physical strength sufficient to periodically lift and/or carry 20 pounds of materials or supplies and to physically restrain a student to keep from harming themself and/or others in an emergency situation

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to perform repetitive hand/wrist/arm motions and to operate a computer and office equipment

KIPP MA educators are supported in their demanding work by experienced and dedicated leadership and staff who have themselves proven successful in their role. Our KIPP MA Executive Leadership Teams maintain consistent systems and procedures designed to permit educators to do their best work. 

In addition to the responsibilities listed above there will occasionally be other duties as assigned that staff will engage in to help promote a positive and safe learning environment and culture.

 


Qualifications :

QUALIFICATIONS

The qualifications for our School Leadership roles are:

  • Deep alignment with KIPP MAs mission and values including the unwavering belief in the high potential of all students

  • Demonstrated ability to drive student growth and achievement and to create a warm inclusive rigorous learning environment

  • Passion for education and a demonstrated commitment to professional learning

  • 5 years of full-time teaching or leadership experience in a K-12 school (preferred)

  • Experience coaching/managing others

  • Computer literacy and baseline familiarity with Google Suite

  • Bachelors Degree required

  • Pass Criminal Background Checks

What We Offer

KIPP Massachusetts offers a competitive compensation and benefits package:

  • Salaries based on experience related to role and responsibilities

  • Roles include a $1000 signing bonus and an annual $2000 retention bonus in subsequent years as well as other bonuses when eligible. Note: Principals are eligible to receive an annual performance bonus rather than a retention bonus.
