We are seeking a Fuel Facility Mechanic position at our new Ronald Reagan Washington International airport operation. The Fuel Facility Mechanic is responsible for servicing airport fueling carts vehicles tanker trucks transport vehicles and related equipment in a safe professional and timely manner.


Essential Responsibilities:

Line maintenance

Perform PMs

Minor/major repair of a varied assortment of equipment

Troubleshooting

Inspect the hydrant system

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 18 years of age or older;
  • Reliable transportation;
  • Eligible to work in the United States;
  • Valid state drivers license with clean motor vehicle record;
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and federal fingerprint background check.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Ability to problem solve;
  • Basic mathematical skills;
  • Demonstrated regular predictable attendance at the airport location;
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals;
  • Ability to communicate in English while on the job with customers coworkers or supervisors who only speak English in emergencies or other situations in which employees must speak a common language to promote safety;
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form;
  • Basic understanding of computer applications and data entries.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

This position requires sustained physical effort and consistent exposure to outdoor and potentially hazardous work environments. The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Mobility and Access

  • Must be able to climb up and down stairs and ladders with 50 steps and work at heights of 50 feet or more including high precarious places.
  • Must be able to get in and out of vehicles of varying sizes and heights.
  • Must be able to drive and operate vehicles and equipment of various sizes including automated lifts up to 26 feet.

Lifting and Carrying

  • Frequently lift and carry up to 30 pounds overhead.
  • Occasionally lift up to 70 pounds to waist level.
  • Must be able to shovel materials such as snow sand dirt gravel or rocks as needed.

Standing and Movement

  • Ability to sit stand walk bend squat kneel crawl twist climb and balance for extended periods of time.
  • Perform repetitive physical movements including bending at the waist and knees and sustaining awkward or physically demanding positions.
  • Capable of climbing and standing on step ladders while performing overhead work such as connecting fueling hoses.
  • Manual Dexterity
  • Use hands and fingers to handle feel grip and operate tools equipment and controls.

Sensory Requirements

  • Hear and respond to verbal instructions environmental sounds and audible alarms.
  • Maintain the following vision capabilities:

o Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)o Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more)o Color vision (identify and distinguish between colors)o Peripheral vision (see up/down and side-to-side while focused on a central point)o Depth perception (assess distance and spatial relationships)o Ability to adjust focus (sharpen vision at various distances)

Environmental and Working Conditions

  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions including extreme heat cold rain snow and wind.
  • Tolerate frequent exposure to:

o Moderate to high noise levels (with use of appropriate hearing protection)o Fumes airborne particles and hazardous substances materials or waste

  • Work near or around:

o Moving mechanical parts

o High-voltage equipment

o Hydraulic and pneumatic systems operating under high pressure

  • Work in elevated or precarious positions such as on lifts ladders or elevated platforms.
