Completion of associate core program in law enforcement criminal justice or in academic field commensurate with program area to be assigned per approved Position Description on file;
AND
12 mos. exp. conducting investigations &/or inspections;
AND
Valid drivers license.
Option 2:
Or 30 mos. trg. or 30 mos. exp. as Investigator Assistant 26210 with experience corresponding to type of complaints & alleged violations appearing in job posting/approved position description;
AND
Valid drivers license.
Option 3:
Or 30 mos. trg. or 30 mos. investigative exp. with experience corresponding to type of complaints & alleged violations appearing in job posting/approved position description;
AND
Valid drivers license.

Pay Information
This position is in the State of Ohios OCSEA/AFSCME Pay Schedule Pay Range 31. Unless required by legislation or union contract salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1 currently $28.76per hour).

Office of Family Assistance
TheOffice ofFamily Assistance (OFA)provides policy operational technical assistance and training support for safety net programs that assist low-income Ohioans. This includes: Cash assistance programs funded by the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Block Grant including Ohio Works First (OWF) and the Prevention Retention and Contingency (PRC) programs; Food assistance programs including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) the Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) Program the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) and The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP); Program Integrity; and Adult Protective Services. What You Will Do
This position plays a critical role in safeguarding program integrity by independently investigating allegations of fraud misuse and other violations within Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and related public assistance programs. The successful candidate will conduct thorough complaint screenings gather and evaluate evidence collaborate with legal and lawenforcement partners and prepare detailed investigative reports to support administrative or criminal action. This role also contributes to the development of investigative procedures supports statewide fraudprevention initiatives and partners across agencies to address emerging issues such as skimming and scamming activities.
- Review fraud referrals and reports of skimming and/or scamming
- Conduct investigations of reported SNAP and/or TANF fraud
- Interview recipients providers and/or other third parties related to a fraud referral
- Calculate claims and enter into appropriate tracking or eligibility system
- Determine if claims meet the definition of intentional fraud
- Create and maintain claims related documentation
- Monitor claims for recoupment
- Monitor key fraud indicator high balance and duplicate address reports and conduct additional investigation or refer to county as needed
- Monitor and analyze skimming and scamming data
- Retrieve skimming devices
- Facilitate fraud related discussions across multiple teams
- Complete special fraud related activities as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Recommended Skills
- Experience in reviewing SNAP and/or TANF fraud cases
- Customer service skills (important in interviewing customers)
- Ability to access and read case data in the Ohio Benefits and Electronic Document Management System (EDMS)
- Must be detail oriented and well organized
- Must possess efficient time management and multi-tasking skills
- Must be able to work independently as well as collaborate across multiple teams
Schedule: Part-time.
Hours: Standard workdays are Monday through Friday. Hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
This is an intermittent temporary position. The final candidate selected for this position will not be permitted to exceed 1000 hours worked per fiscal year (July 1st - June 30th). This position is Unclassified per ORC 124.11(A) (29).
Location: Rhodes State Officer Tower - 30 E. Broad Street FL 31 Columbus OH 43215.
Travel: Occasional travel within the state of Ohio.
