Job Summary

PGS Worldwide is seeking an FPGA Verification Engineer in Owego NY for a one-year onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will focus primarily on FPGA verification for safety-critical avionics hardware while also supporting ASIC/FPGA development integration and testing. The engineer will perform DO-254 verification activities develop and execute test environments analyze coverage and collaborate across systems hardware and certification teams.

Required Skills

  • Bachelors degree with 915 years of relevant experience or masters degree with 713 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience performing FPGA verification for complex digital hardware.
  • Experience supporting DO-254 compliance activities for safety-critical avionics hardware including Level A requirements.
  • Proficiency with SystemVerilog.
  • Experience with FPGA development tools such as Xilinx Vivado Intel Quartus and/or Synopsys Synplify.
  • Proficiency with HDL simulators waveform viewers and coverage-analysis tools.
  • Experience with requirements analysis verification test development test execution simulation coverage analysis and results back-annotation.
  • Experience with FPGA-based digital signal processing high-speed digital design high-speed communications and/or system-on-chip architectures.
  • Familiarity with hardware-in-the-loop test environments and equipment such as JTAG and logic analyzers.
  • Experience with version control and configuration management systems.
  • Ability to collaborate across FPGA/ASIC systems RF/analog and digital circuit engineering disciplines.
  • Ability to provide technical direction and support to less experienced engineers.

Preferred Skills

  • Proficiency with UVM.
  • Proficiency with C.
  • Previous involvement with FAA or EASA certification audits.
  • Experience with embedded processors and COTS-based control platforms.
  • Experience developing automation or scripting solutions that improve FPGA development and verification efficiency.

What Youll Do

  • Perform FPGA verification activities supporting DO-254 compliance and certification of safety-critical avionics hardware.
  • Analyze hardware requirements and develop verification strategies test cases and test procedures.
  • Execute simulations and verification testing and perform functional and coverage analysis.
  • Back-annotate verification results and maintain supporting verification documentation.
  • Support FPGA and ASIC design simulation verification integration and testing.
  • Develop and integrate high-speed digital DSP communications and system-on-chip functionality on FPGA platforms.
  • Use FPGA design simulation waveform and coverage-analysis tools throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Support hardware-in-the-loop testing using JTAG logic analyzers and related laboratory equipment.
  • Collaborate with systems architects RF/analog engineers digital circuit designers and FPGA/ASIC engineers.
  • Develop automation and scripts to improve FPGA development and verification processes.
  • Support configuration management and version-control activities.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to junior engineers.
  • Support certification activities and technical reviews associated with DO-254 Level A hardware.
