Job Summary

Overview

The Founder Engagement and Development Officer is the lead development officer for the Stephen R. Covey Leadership Center in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University. The Founders of the Covey Leadership Center financially and personally support the Centers mission to develop the worlds principle-centered leaders of character and competence who elevate society. This Officer is responsible for the growth engagement and contributions of the Founders. The Officer also coordinates the day-to-day fiscal administrative and operational activities of the Founder organization.

This is a temporary position with the end date of June 30th 2027 with the option to renew for another year.

Responsibilities

The Founder Engagement and Development Officer reports to the Executive Director of the Covey Leadership Center. This Officer also works closely with the Centers Chair and Vice Chair to build and strengthen the Founder organization.

  • Founder Cultivation & Recruitment: Identify qualify and recruit new Founders (donors) to align their philanthropic interests with the Covey Leadership CenterS mission and strategic goals.
  • Stewardship: Maintain ongoing relationships with current Founders ensuring meaningful engagement with the Center fellow Founders and students to inspire continuing/increasing annual donations.
  • Founder Event Management: Work closely with the Center Executive Director to plan and execute Founder dinners events and tripsensuring exceptional personalized Founder experiences and effective communication invitations budgeting contracting invoicing and reporting.
  • Reporting: Maintain with the support of Center staff comprenshive Founder records including personal contact information donation records annual donation invitations/invoices/ reminders and annual financial/impact reports. Regularly express individual appreciation to the Founders verbally and in writing for their contributions and impact.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree plus ten years of related work experience is required.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Deep understanding of passion for and commitment to the mission of the Stephen R. Covey Leadership Center.
  • Strong relationship of trust with current Founders.
  • Strong track record of donor development business development or senior executive- client development.
  • Ability to interact and build strong relationships with Founders students faculty and/or staff in a team environment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to plan coordinate and organize high-level VIP meetings and/or special events.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Skilled in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Skilled at records maintenance.
  • Ability to gather and generate reports.
  • Ability to exercise a high level of creativity decision making problem solving and discretion as work is varied and may be undefined.
