NYAP Foster Care Internship: Cleveland OH

National Youth Advocate Program is accepting internship applications for the Spring 2027 and Summer 2027 terms to our Foster Care team. In this community-based role you will get hands on experience working with the foster care population. During your internship with NYAP you will also be given the opportunity to rotate into other departments within our agency to gain a more complete understanding of the work our agency does.

This opportunity is for students enrolled in a Bachelor -or- Master of Social Work Program from an accredited College or University.

Your Internship Experience may include:

• Working with foster care youth and foster parents
• Working in case management
• Learning diagnostics assessments and treatment plans
• Assessing and engaging with youth
• Observing interventions for youth
• Interacting with caregivers parents foster parents school staff office staff and other mental health professionals
• Learning documentation and paperwork.
• Traveling daily to provide community-based services to and on behalf of youth and families.
• Interacting with caregivers parents foster parents school staff office staff and other mental health professionals

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in either a Bachelor of Social Work or Master of Social Work Program from an accredited College or University
  • An internship or field placement is a requirement by the institution.
  • Upon the completion of the internship the individual would receive credit toward their pursued degree
• LSW or SWT licensure or CT (for LPC students)required for masters interns
• Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers smart phones and tablets as well as software including word processing spreadsheet and database programs.

Driving and Vehicle Requirements

• Valid drivers license
• Reliable personal transportation
• Good driving record
• Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100000/$300000 bodily injury liability
