Forklift Mechanic
Job Summary
MalaceHR is seeking a skilled Forklift Maintenance Technician for a contract-to-hire opportunity in Tampa FL. This is a hands-on jack-of-all-trades maintenance position with a primary focus on electric forklift repair and preventative maintenance.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities with at least 23 years of experience maintaining and repairing forklifts or similar automotive industrial or material-handling equipment. When forklift maintenance needs are covered this position will also support the facilities team with HVAC electrical mechanical and general building maintenance.
- Perform corrective maintenance on a fleet of approximately 33 reach trucks and sit-down forklifts.
- Diagnose and repair forklift mechanical and electrical issues.
- Replace wheels hydraulic lines motors electrical components and other parts as needed.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems cameras sensors and related forklift technology.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on forklifts and material-handling equipment.
- Maintain and repair floor scrubbers and other facility equipment.
- Maintain an appropriate inventory of replacement parts and order additional parts as needed.
- Provide daily reports documenting repairs and maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with outside vendors for repairs that cannot be completed in-house.
- Monitor the quality scope and pricing of work performed by outside contractors.
- Assist the facilities maintenance team with HVAC electrical mechanical and general building maintenance when forklift work is not required.
- Perform periodic inspections of tools and equipment inventory.
- Properly store handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean organized and safe work environment.
- 24 years of experience maintaining and repairing forklifts or similar industrial equipment.
- Strong experience with electric forklift maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical hydraulic and electrical forklift failures.
- Experience troubleshooting damage resulting from normal wear mechanical failure and impact events.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with automotive or industrial maintenance experience.
- Basic knowledge of HVAC and electrical systems.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Word Excel Outlook and email.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple maintenance priorities.
- Certified Forklift Technician credentials.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience working with Corrigo or another CMMS/work order management system.
- Experience maintaining reach trucks and sit-down forklifts.
- Familiarity with AI-based productivity or troubleshooting tools.
- Broad facilities maintenance experience across mechanical electrical and HVAC systems.
Candidates must be able to:
- Bend kneel squat sit stand reach and work in various positions for extended periods while accessing equipment components.
- Perform hands-on mechanical and maintenance work throughout the shift.
- Work indoors and outdoors as required.
- Work in conditions that may include heat cold sunlight rain and both daytime and nighttime environments.
