Responsibilities:
As an assistant Coach you are directly responsible to the Head Football Coachand the Director of Athletics. The coach of an individual sport must realize that any activitysponsored by EHS Athletics is part of the total program offered by EHS. Individuals in charge ofsuch activities must utilize sound educational principles and goals if athletics are to be aworthwhile part of the overall school program. Some of the duties of the coach shall include:
DUTIES
Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in thesport involved.
Maintain accurate records of team lists injury reports scores of games stats (report toathletic office and newspapers as requested) incident reports physical examinations.
Be available during the entire school year to lend assistance in guidance and counselingto his/her team members i.e. scholastic achievement college entrance citizenship.
Responsible for determining the athletes academic eligibility.
Be responsible for information contained in the Massachusetts Interscholastic AthleticAssociation Handbook and the EHS Student Handbook.
Oversees the safety conditions of the facility of the area in which the assigned sport isplayed at all times that students are present.
Be present at each practice session and at all contests of the sport coached. This includessupervision always of the weight room locker room and shower areas until the area issecured before and after practices and contests and bus trips.
Enforce discipline and always encourage sportsmanship like behavior. These standardsare those set down by the Principal and Athletic Department.
Attend all Athletic Department and EHS meetings that deal directly with the sportcoached. Including MIAA GBL Coaches Associations and Athletic Awards meetings.Stay informed of rule changes trends and recommendations that affect their sport.
Give personal support to the entire EHS staff including school principal school assistantprincipals and teachers.
Establish avenues of communication with other adults to identify potential resources forthe enhancement of EHS athletics.
Directly supervise team members at home and away contests.
Assists in the distribution and collection of all uniforms and equipment. Coaches areresponsible for equipment not returned by his/her team members at the designated time.
Performs all other duties as the head coach and or athletic director may deem to be in thebest interest of the sport pupil and school.
QUALIFICATIONS
Previous football coaching experience is desirable.
Previous experience in either high school college or both is desirable.
Knowledge of football and its rules and ability to instruct players in all facets of thesport.
Evidence of ability to get along with pupils parents colleagues and other citizens.
Bachelors degree from an accredited college preferred.
CPR Certification
Completion of the MIAA Coaches Education Class and/or other requirements by theMIAA preferred
Stipend position - Salary based on contract (FY27)
