This role partners closely with the sales team to conduct on-site measurements calculate material quantities and prepare comprehensive project estimates for both residential and commercial flooring projects across the Hampton Roads region. OBJECTIVES

• Conduct thorough on-site measurements for residential and commercial flooring projects accurately capturing room dimensions transitions obstacles and subfloor conditions that impact material requirements and installation approach.
• Prepare detailed professional cost estimates that reflect accurate material quantities labor considerations and project-specific requirements presented clearly enough for the sales team to use confidently in every client proposal.
• Partner with sales associates throughout the estimating process providing technical expertise and measurement data that supports consultative client conversations and increases proposal close rates.
• Calculate material quantities with precision to minimize waste reduce overages and ensure that every project is ordered correctly the first time without costly corrections.
• Review project specifications floor plans and blueprints for commercial projects identifying potential challenges and incorporating them into accurate cost projections before work begins.
• Maintain organized and up-to-date records of all estimates measurements and project documentation ensuring the sales and operations teams have access to accurate information throughout the project lifecycle.
• Communicate clearly with installation crews regarding project scope measurements and material specifications ensuring a smooth and informed handoff from estimate to installation.
• Stay current on flooring product lines pricing updates and installation requirements for materials including hardwood luxury vinyl plank carpet tile and specialty flooring applying that knowledge to every estimate produced.
• Follow up on outstanding proposals in coordination with the sales team tracking estimate status and supporting the close process with accurate information and prompt responsiveness.
• Identify and communicate potential subfloor issues structural concerns or scope changes discovered during site visits that could affect project cost timeline or installation approach.
• Utilize estimating software and company systems to produce store and manage estimates efficiently maintaining a consistent and professional format across all client-facing documents.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the estimating process by identifying opportunities to increase accuracy reduce turnaround time and strengthen the overall client proposal experience.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or GED required; additional coursework or training in construction flooring or a related trade is a plus
• 2 or more years of experience in flooring installation estimation or a related field operations role required
• Hands-on experience with flooring materials including hardwood luxury vinyl plank carpet tile and related products strongly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to accurately measure residential and commercial spaces and translate measurements into material quantity calculations required
• Experience preparing cost estimates or project proposals in a flooring construction or home improvement environment preferred
• Familiarity with estimating software or digital measurement technology preferred
• Ability to read and interpret floor plans blueprints or architectural drawings for commercial project estimates preferred
• Strong mathematical aptitude with the ability to calculate area material quantities and project pricing accurately required
• Valid drivers license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation to conduct on-site visits across the Hampton Roads region required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present estimates clearly to sales associates and clients required
• Ability to work collaboratively with a sales team and installation crews in a fast-paced client-focused environment required
• Experience in a customer-facing or client-service role within the flooring or home improvement industry is a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to walk kneel and crouch to accurately measure flooring surfaces transitions and subfloor conditions during on-site project visits
• Ability to work in both residential and commercial environments including spaces that may be under active construction or renovation
• Regular travel to client sites throughout Virginia Beach Norfolk Chesapeake and the Hampton Roads region required
• Prolonged periods of standing and walking during on-site visits and in-showroom client consultations throughout the workday
• Must be able to carry and operate measuring tools and equipment throughout the course of the workday
• Ability to work in a professional office and showroom environment in addition to active job sites as needed
