GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Under general direction supervises fleet maintenance operations and personnel for the Hamilton County
Engineers Office; assists with planning and coordinating fleet maintenance and repair activities; ensures day-today
operational delivery consistent with departmental standards and priorities; and may act for a higher-level fleet
manager or superintendent.
JOB DUTIES:
  • Supervises fleet maintenance personnel
  • Plans schedules and assigns work
  • Monitors productivity and turnaround
  • Reviews completed work for quality and safety
  • Trains employees and provides direction consistent with assignment
  • Coordinates day-to-day fleet operations
  • Establishes repair priorities based on operational readiness needs
  • Coordinates workflow vendor repairs and availability of tools equipment materials and personnel
  • Addresses customer complaints and facilitates resolution within established processes
  • Prepares and maintains reports and records reflecting work progress materials and equipment usage and operational status
  • Ensures accurate work order documentation consistent with departmental standards
  • Applies supervision and discipline practices consistent with County policies and labor agreements
  • Recommends discipline and commendations; receives and addresses grievances
  • Authorizes leave requests consistent with established procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with safety practices procedures and regulated work practices associated with fleet operations
  • May assist with compliance documentation inspections support and corrective action implementation within assigned authority.
  • Provides shared services support to other County agencies which may include limited preventive maintenance services fueling support coordination of repairs or field response for urgent operational needs within approved scope
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED and three (3) years of experience in fleet maintenance and repair operations
including lead or supervisory responsibilities; or any equivalent combination of education training and
experience which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification in automotive or medium/heavy-duty truck systems is
preferred.
Valid drivers license and proof of automobile insurance.
Must obtain and maintain a Class B Underground Storage Tank (UST) Operator Certification within six (6)
months of hire.
Must obtain and maintain EPA Section 609 MVAC Certification within six (6) months of hire.
May be required to obtain and maintain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) and other specialized certifications based on assignment.
