A Fishmonger attends to the fish preparation needs of guests including selection advice cutting cleaning weighing and packaging. This role reports to the Fresh Market Manager.

Responsibilities

• Assist guests with fish selection and share knowledge of preparation and cooking techniques - provide top notch guest service
• Cut clean and prepare whole fish and shellfish
• Cook fish and shellfish for salads and catering dishes
• Weigh package and label fish
• Display and store food at appropriate temperatures in accordance with Department of Health standards and maintain proper shellfish tag records
• Stock the counter neatly accurately and in a timely manner according to pricing menus and promptly inform management when fish quantities or supplies are low
• Clean workstations thoroughly
• Perform other duties as required or assigned

Compensation
The hourly rate for this role is $21.00/hr -$23.00/hr.

Qualifications :

Qualifications

• Customer service and/or retail sales experience preferred
• 1 year of experience working with fresh fish
• Good knife skills
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Job Requirements

• Availability to work a flexible schedule including weekends
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to maintain well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours including standing walking bending and squatting
• Ability to work with knives hand tools utensils and equipment to cut fish
• Food Handlers License
