The University of Miami School of Education and Human Development has an exciting opportunity for a full time Financial Analyst 1 to work in Coral Gables FL.

The Financial Analyst 1 compiles and analyzes financial information for the assigned school in an efficient and accurate manner. Moreover the incumbent assists management in the decision-making process and strategic planning by presenting relevant financial reports in a clear concise and timely manner.

Core responsibilities:

  • Prepares and coordinates documentation of financial analysis projects such as budgets forecasts projections expense performance and presentations.
  • Identifies trends and developments in competitive environments and presents findings.
  • Provides analytical support for forward-looking financial or business-related projects.
  • Performs financial forecasting and reconciliation of accounts.
  • Designs and builds various models that summarize several different scenarios around growth and expansion initiatives or opportunities.
  • Develops and maintains performance and productivity dashboards models or analyses.
  • Collects interprets and analyzes relevant data or metrics.
  • May develop and maintain reports to support plans business decisions operational changes strategic plans and new services.
  • Resolves any reporting issues.
  • Helps process purchase requisitions journals expense reports purchase card reconciliations payroll and other transactions in the Universitys financial system (Workday).
  • Makes recommendations to align policies and procedures with best practices and capitalize on financial opportunities.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Department Specific Functions:

  • This role provides critical Academic Affairs support including faculty hiring payroll processing and Faculty Affairs liaison functions.
  • The position also manages key business operations such as scholarship award submissions contract routing purchase order submissions etc.
  • Additionally the position would serve as HR Partner for students overseeing hiring and payroll to support research and instructional activities involving students.
  • This position will assist in key operational tasks such as reconciliation of corporate card transactions contract routing through CONGA etc.
  • This position would serve as a critical partner to the Sponsored Programs Office by providing strategic financial guidance and support to grant-generating faculty.

Core Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in relevant field required
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required
  • Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures technologies and protocols and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software technology and relevant computer applications.
  • Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.

Any relevant education certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
