Position: Field Technician

Location: Columbus or Cincinnati OH

The Field Technician supports the Survey Crew Chief in performing accurate efficient and safe field survey operations. This is an entry-level position focused on learning field survey techniques equipment operation and safety practices while contributing to project execution. The role requires reliability attention to detail and a willingness to develop technical skills in a hands-on outdoor environment.

• Work under direct supervision of the Crew Chief to complete assigned field tasks safely and accurately.
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of survey equipment.
• Operate basic survey instruments (GPS total stations data collectors) with guidance.
• Assist in establishing control points and collecting field data.
• Perform basic field tasks such as rod holding note keeping and equipment transport.
• Support topographic surveys boundary surveys and construction layout activities.
• Maintain a safe work environment including proper signage and equipment placement.
• Follow all company and project safety protocols.
• Maintain vehicles and equipment in good working condition and report issues.
• Communicate professionally with team members and the public on job sites.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Flexibility to travel throughout Ohio to project sites required.
• Willingness to learn survey equipment and field procedures.
• Strong work ethic reliability and commitment to safety.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.
• Valid drivers license required.
• 1 year of land surveying experience or similar work is preferred
• Basic understanding of surveying principles is preferred.
• Exposure to surveying construction or outdoor fieldwork is preferred.
• Coursework in surveying civil engineering or related field is preferred.
