We are seeking a Field Supervisor for our fiber optic construction projects for multi-dwelling units (MDUs). In this role you will oversee and promote safety awareness among employees and assure compliance with safety regulations and reporting. You will direct the day-to-day field operations for aerial and underground fiber construction training and guiding field employees to keep up with daily operational needs.

The Role

  • Supervise field crews performing underground electric utility construction including trenching conduit installation cable placement vault installation and service cutovers.
  • Coordinate daily work activities with PG&E representatives inspectors contractors subcontractors and project stakeholders
  • Conduct pre-job briefings tailboard meetings and safety audits to ensure compliance with PG&E and OSHA safety requirements
  • Monitor jobsite conditions and enforce safe work practices utility locating procedures and excavation standards
  • Review project drawings construction packages permits and work orders to ensure crews understand project scope and requirements
  • Schedule manpower equipment materials and subcontractors to meet project milestones and customer commitments
  • Track production labor hours equipment utilization and project progress; provide daily reports to management
  • Ensure proper installation of underground facilities in accordance with PG&E standards specifications and approved construction methods
  • Identify and resolve field issues utility conflicts and construction challenges while minimizing delays and cost impacts
  • Coordinate utility locates and verify existing underground facilities prior to excavation activities
  • Maintain quality control throughout project execution and ensure all work meets company and client expectations
  • Perform site inspections and verify restoration requirements are completed according to local jurisdiction and PG&E standards
  • Assist with project planning budgeting forecasting and resource allocation
  • Investigate incidents near misses and safety concerns; implement corrective actions as needed
  • Mentor crew members and provide training on construction methods safety procedures and PG&E compliance requirements
  • Maintain effective communication with project managers engineering teams customers municipalities and PG&E personnel
  • Ensure all project documentation permits inspections and closeout requirements are completed accurately and on time
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of underground electric utility construction experience preferably with PG&E projects
  • Strong knowledge of PG&E Underground Electric Distribution standards and specifications
  • Experience supervising crews in civil construction utility installation and underground distribution systems
  • PG&E-approved supervisor or foreman experience preferred
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations excavation safety requirements and utility avoidance practices
  • Ability to read and interpret utility plans construction drawings and project specifications.
  • Strong leadership communication and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with daily reporting scheduling and project tracking software
  • Experience with Rule 16 and Rule 20 underground conversion projects
  • Knowledge of joint trench construction and coordination with telecommunications providers
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Competent Person Excavation certification
  • OSHA 30
  • Must provide a valid government-issued photo ID for verification; a drivers license is required if the role involves driving
  • Class A Commercial Drivers (CDL) preferred
  • Passing of all pre-employment requirements (MVR Background Check Drug Screen)
