TheFieldTechnicianwillberesponsiblefor providingonsite technical support forPowerFlexselectric vehicle charging equipment solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and battery energy storage systems (BESS)This rolewill work with internal teams as well as directly with our clients to provide best-in-class customer Field Technician will provide hands-onmaintenance and troubleshooting support acrossPowerFlexsfull portfolio of energy assets including EVSE solar PV and BESS equipment.

Location
This role is responsible for supporting the San Diego County Area and needs to be based locally.
Responsibilities
- Lead on-site diagnostics repair and preventative maintenance of EVSE hardware solar PV systems and BESS equipment including advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis of recurring or complex field issues.
- Act as the field point of contact for escalated service needs coordinating directly with internal support teams and external stakeholders to ensuretimelyresolution.
- Develop and implement best practices for field configuration installation and maintenance procedures including solar and BESS systems; proactivelyidentifysite-specific risks or improvements.
- Serve asonsitetechnical expertas well as use diagnostic tools test equipment and system data to isolate electrical mechanical firmware network and communications faults
- Maintainaccurateand detailed service documentation in ticketing systems; provide insights from field data to inform operational and product enhancements.
- Own field inventory tracking and replenishment for your region ensuring parts availability for scheduled and emergency maintenance.
- Supportcommissioningnewcharging sitesby performing hardware verification power-up procedures and end-to-end testing with cross-functional teams.
- Perform routine maintenanceinverter checks battery health assessments string testing and monitoring system configuration.
- Interface with clients and site hosts professionally in the fieldrepresentingPowerFlexscommitment to quality safety and customer satisfaction.
- Follow all applicable OSHA NFPA NEC manufacturer and site-specific safety requirements while performing energized work lockout/tagout arc-flash assessments and other field activities
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Bachelors Degree in engineeringor equivalent field
- 5 years of electrical engineering experience
- 2 years of experience working with EVSE
- Experience with solar PV systems BESS or other distributed energy resources (DERs) preferred.
- Hands-on experience working with hardware in a laboratory or professional environment
- Experience with Customer service or support
- Experience working with Salesforce Service Cloud Microsoft Office Suite
- Must have a valid Drivers annual motor vehiclerecord checksand mustparticipatein annual defensive driving training.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Knowledge of electronics and three-phase circuits
- Familiarity with solar inverters battery management systems (BMS) and energy storage technologies preferred.
- Basic familiarity with command-line interface
- Goodunderstanding of networking concepts (EthernetWiFiCellularIP addresses) is a plus.
- Comfort with basic office expectations such as use of email messagingcalendarsand Teams meetings
- Self-starter takes initiative to drive tasks to completion
- A desire to provide the best possible service for our customers and stakeholders
- Calm under pressure and can effectively prioritize competing tasks
Compensation
The base pay range for this position is $30 - $42 hourly. The total compensation for this position will include commission. This position is eligible for PowerFlexs comprehensive Health and Welfare plans including but not limited to medical dental vision 401(k) retirement plan and paid time off. PowerFlexs compensation packages carefully consider a candidates qualifications experiences and education in relation to the position.
PhysicalRequirements
- Remaining in a seated hours oncomputerkeyboard. Prolonged periods ofstandingwalkingand/ordriving.
- Must be able to ascend and descend ladders scaffoldsstairsand work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
- Must be able to position one-self to work in confined spaces such as trenches pitsmanholesatticsand tunnels.
- Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move50pounds occasionally
- Must be able to respond quickly to sounds.
- Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
- Must be able to work in cold environments and on concrete floors.
- Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
WorkingConditions
Approximately90% of the time is spenttraveling and providing support on-siteat EVSE solar and BESS installations.10% is spent in an office environment preparing equipment interacting with clients via phone/email internal escalation of service tickets participating in recurring Asset Management/Customer Success team meetingsutilizing computers (frequent use of MS Word MS Excel Outlook Access PowerPoint Publisher and Adobe etc.) telephones and general office equipment.
