Role Overview

Genus PLC has an exciting opportunity. We are looking for a Field Searcher to join our team. The position is located in our Kennewick position will be responsible for reviewing daily production goals and preparing materials for team members involved in the aspiration of oocytes. This position will also be responsible for following standard operating procedures to ensure appropriate processing of oocytes prior to incubation. This position is largely focused on filtering follicular fluid classifying oocyte health and promoting successful embryo development via maturation medium and incubation. Individuals in this role are also responsible for data collection and report development associated with their work.

  • Preparepersonalworkspacepersonalstereo-microscopeandincubatortoensureaccurateassessmentandsafe transportation of oocytes.
  • ReceiveandproperlystoreOPUtubescontainingaspiratedoocytesfromOvum Pick-UpSpecialist(OPU).
  • Filterfollicularfluidandrinseoocyteswithwashingmediumprotocols.
  • Classifyoocytesanddocumentquantityperclassificationprotocols.
  • Evaluatequalityofoocytesunderamicroscopediscardnonviablestructuresusingpipette.
  • Managetimetoensuretimelyprocessingofreceivedoocytes.
  • Completeaccurateandtimelydocumentationofdatawhileprocessingaspiratedoocytes.
  • Preparetransportationtubeswithmaturationmediumaeratewithmixedgassolutionsealandhouseinincubator.
  • Coordinatesupplyofmaterialstoensureavailabilitytomaterialsbasedonproductionforecasts.
  • Activelyparticipateintestingandprocessimprovementinitiatives.
  • Seekcontinuousimprovementtofurtherperfectskillsanddecision-makingduringevaluationand categorization of oocyte health.
  • Followestablishedsafetyregulations.
  • Responsibleforpersonaltransportationtowork-siteofteninruralareas.
Requirements

Education and Experience

  • HighSchoolDiplomaorequivalentrequired;BiologyAnimalScienceorrelateddegreepreferred.
  • Previousworkwithinlaboratoryenvironmentbeneficial.
  • Previousexperiencesusingpipettesandmicroscopebeneficial.
  • Previousexperienceworkinginfarmenvironmentpreferred.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time with several overnight trips per month.
  • Abilitytoworkvariedshiftsincludingweekendsandholidaysdependingonproductiondemand.
  • Abilitytofollowdetailedsafetyprotocolsasduringdailyexposuretoneedlesorothersharpobjectsas well asbodily fluids of beef and dairy cattle.
  • Team-centricdetail-orientatedandhighlyorganized.
  • Solution-drivenanddeterminedtoachieveproductiongoals.
