Position Summary

The Field Experience Specialist role includes primary responsibility for maintaining documentation of program clinical/internship requirements. The Field Experience Specialist will facilitate licensure student placement at K-12 partner schools maintain documentation of student compliance with all school and agency requirements cooperating teacher documentation and documentation for accreditation and regulatory needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the placement of clinical field/internship experiences for the initial level teacher licensure advanced level administrative licensure and apprenticeship programs
  • Organize the diverse experience for all licensure programs.
  • Maintain accurate field placement data for CAEP including diverse placements and key assessments
  • Support the training of university supervisors and cooperating teachers to utilize the field experience assessments.
  • Participate and set dates for the team meeting each semester that will approve all university supervisors and placements.
  • Participate in the identification and recruitment of high-quality university supervisors
  • Conduct school visits concerning field placements when assigned by the Field Experience Manager
  • Foster positive relationships with school district partners and encourage professional development schools or other partnerships
  • Participate in work group/committees as assigned by the Department Chair
  • Attend meetings and conferences to keep abreast of new changes in policy (e.g. Ohio Confederation of Teacher Education Organizations (OCTEO) state licensure meetings and CAEP)
  • Review field experience supervisor and cooperating teacher evaluations by candidates and follow up on any issues
  • Hold seminars for candidates to keep them abreast of current issues in education.
  • Conduct presentations in classes to inform students regarding field experience
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

  • Experience working in or with Public and Private P-12 School Organizations
  • Bachelors Degree preferably in education or education administration
  • Commitment to collaborative & collegiate relationships
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner and work effectively with faculty staff and members of the professional community
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills both oral and written are required in order to customize communication pieces to effectively reach intended audience and prepare reports.
  • The candidate must have strong computer skills including the Microsoft Office suite of products as well as other databases and a demonstrated background in internet-based research.
  • Strong attention to detail demonstrated active listening skills and process orientation
  • Must be flexible able to prioritize multitask and manage several projects simultaneously in a time sensitive environment.
  • Must be able to work both independently and collaboratively with multiple University departments and operate with a high degree of confidentiality.

Preferred Skills and Characteristics

  • Knowledge of higher education regulations compliance and accrediting agencies
  • Experience with clinical management systems

Additional Notes

  • Required to be available for appointments onsite meetings and other university activities
  • Some travel may be required on a limited basis
  • Occasional weekend events
