Feature Lead Tech Lead Java

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Feature Lead / Tech Lead - Java for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Pennington NJ. This is a 12 month contract opportunity.

This role focuses on leading the design development and delivery of complex features within a Java-based ecosystem. The ideal candidate will architect and build event-driven systems using Java Spring Boot and Kafka with a strong focus on microservices architecture system reliability and maintainability while providing technical leadership and mentorship to development teams.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the architectural design and implementation of new features ensuring they are scalable secure and maintainable
• Design and implement scalable high-performance backend systems using Java and Spring Boot
• Architect and build event-driven systems using Kafka
• Take end-to-end ownership of the feature lifecycle from requirements gathering and technical design to deployment and post-release monitoring
• Drive technical standards by performing rigorous code reviews and implementing best practices
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams
• Collaborate with product managers architects and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Optimize database interactions and schema design using Oracle
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and implement long-term fixes

Requirements:

• 10 years of experience in backend development with Java
• Deep expertise in Java (Java 17/21 preferred) and the Spring Framework (Spring Boot Spring Cloud Spring Data)
• Proven experience in designing distributed systems microservices architectures and event-driven patterns
• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka for building event-driven systems
• Strong proficiency and experience with Oracle databases including performance tuning and query optimization
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS GCP or Azure) containerization (Docker Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong knowledge of REST APIs messaging systems and asynchronous processing
• Expertise in TDD/BDD practices and automated testing frameworks (JUnit Mockito Testcontainers)
• Excellent ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Strong problem-solving debugging and technical leadership skills

Desired skills:

• Experience working in large-scale enterprise or fintech systems

Pay range: $55.06 - $63.06 per hour
