Fall Girls on the Run School Coaches

POSITION SUMMARY:

Everett Public Schools is seeking after-school coaches to facilitate Girls on the Run an evidence-based physical activity and social-emotional learning program for students in Grades 35 including girls and students of other marginalized gender identities. The program combines movement relationship-building and interactive lessons that help students develop confidence healthy habits and important life skills.

Girls on the Run will provide the core curriculum program materials and required coach training. Coaches will also facilitate literacy activities that connect students reading reflection and communication skills to the programs social-emotional learning themes.

WORKING TIMES:

  • Two days per week from 2:454:00 P.M. (Monday - Thursday)
  • Eight weeks of programming beginning the week of September 28 and ending the week of November 16
  • Celebratory 5K on Sunday November 15 2026
  • Required coach training preparation family outreach and event participation

REMUNERATION:

$40 per hour; total maximum stipend not to exceed $1200.

  • 25 hours of direct program instruction (Including weekly practices and celebratory 5K at the end of the season)
  • Up to five additional hours for required coach training and program-related preparation including family outreach coach meetings lesson preparation and other approved coordination activities.

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: Up to two coaches per participating school

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate Girls on the Run sessions using the curriculum and materials provided.
  • Lead safe inclusive and developmentally appropriate movement and running activities.
  • Create a safe inclusive and supportive environment that promotes student confidence belonging teamwork and healthy habits.
  • Supervise students during program activities transitions and dismissal.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and participation records.
  • Implement positive behavior supports and age-appropriate behavior-management strategies.
  • Communicate with families as needed regarding student engagement attendance program updates and participation in the end-of-season 5K.
  • Coordinate with school staff regarding program space materials technology and other operational needs.
  • Complete required Girls on the Run coach training and participate in program planning and preparation.
  • Attend the celebratory 5K on Sunday November 15 2026 and support student supervision and participation during the event.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Everett Public Schools teacher or paraprofessional in good standing.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students.
  • Ability to facilitate physical activity and social-emotional learning lessons.
  • Strong communication collaboration organization and positive behavior-management skills.
  • Availability for the complete eight-week season required training and the end-of-season 5K.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two or more years of experience working with students in elementary or middle grades.
  • Previous experience supporting before-school afterschool athletic wellness or other out-of-school-time programming.
  • Experience facilitating literacy or social-emotional learning activities.
  • Multilingual capacity.
