Job Summary
Assistant/Associate Professor of Art and Design (Ceramics/Sculpture)
The Department of Art and Design at LaGrange College seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty position with a primary focus in Ceramics and additional experience in Sculpture. The appointment begins with the 2027-2028 academic year beginning August 2027.
Required Qualifications: An MFA in Ceramics or a closely related field; a demonstrated studio practice and exhibition record in ceramics; experience in sculpture sufficient to teach foundational sculpture coursework; and a record of effective teaching at the undergraduate level across a range of ceramics techniques (hand building wheel-throwing glaze chemistry and kiln firing processes).
Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be a strong energetic leader and an effective communicator and collaborator invested in growing our ceramics and sculpture offerings and will help recruit and mentor students.
Responsibilities for the position include teaching a range of ceramics courses across skill levels along with Sculpture I (and Sculpture II as needed). The teaching load is 24 credits annually. Responsibilities also include maintaining and developing studio facilities and equipment including kilns and glaze materials; supervising and ensuring safe operation of the ceramics studio; advising majors and mentoring students toward exhibition opportunities internships and professional development. Additional duties may be determined by the successful candidates experience and abilities. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching professional development and institutional service as well as an understanding of and appreciation for the mission of liberal arts institutions.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
