Job Summary

Firestorm is looking for a Facility Security Officer (FSO) who will manage the day-to-day security operations of a cleared facility that possesses classified material on-site. You will need to ensure full compliance with 32 CFR Part 117 (National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual NISPOM) and the facilitys National Industrial Security Program Operating Agreement (NISPOA). You will also carry direct accountability to the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) for the protection of classified national security information and the overall security posture of the facility.
What Youll Do
Industrial Security Program Management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with DCSA and other Cognizant Security Agencies for all matters related to the facilitys classified operations.
  • Maintain and administer the Standard Practice Procedures (SPP) governing the safeguarding storage transmission and destruction of classified material.
  • Manage all aspects of a possessing facilitys security infrastructure including closed areas secure rooms GSA-approved containers IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems) and access control systems.
  • Conduct and document required self-inspections and prepare the facility for periodic DCSA security reviews and vulnerability assessments.
  • Administer personnel security clearance processing including initial investigations periodic reinvestigations and continuous vetting enrollment.
  • Manage visitor control procedures classified meetings and incoming/outgoing classified material transmissions (including couriers and classified shipments).
  • Maintain the facilitys Security Education Training and Awareness (SETA) program including initial annual and refresher briefings.
  • Manage the incident response process for security violations compromises and administrative inquiries including reporting to DCSA as required.
Possessing Facility Operations
  • Maintain accountability for all classified material at the facility including document control inventories and destruction certifications.
  • Ensure proper classification management marking and handling of classified information and material in accordance with the applicable Security Classification Guide(s).
  • Manage safeguarding requirements for Secret and/or Top Secret material including any Communications Security (COMSEC) Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) or Special Access Program (SAP) requirements if applicable.
  • Coordinate with facilities/engineering on construction alarm and accreditation requirements for closed areas and vaults.
  • Maintain emergency action procedures for the protection or destruction of classified material.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems Cybersecurity or a related field; relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to ITAR regulations with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
  • 5 years of experience in industrial security within the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) with direct experience at a possessing facility.
  • Working knowledge of 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM) the NISPOM Rule and DCSA industrial security procedures.
  • Completion of DCSA Center for Development of Security Excellence (CDSE) FSO Program Management for Possessing Facilities curriculum (or ability to complete within a specified probationary period).
  • Experience with DISS (Defense Information System for Security) and NBIS (National Background Investigation Services).
  • Strong organizational written and verbal communication skills; ability to brief senior leadership and government representatives.
  • Ability to exercise sound independent judgment on sensitive matters and maintain strict confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Industrial Security Professional (ISP) certification (National Classification Management Society).
  • Prior experience serving as an Insider Threat Program Senior Official (ITPSO) or Insider Threat Program support role.
  • Experience with SAP SCI or COMSEC security programs.
  • Familiarity with export control regulations (ITAR/EAR).

Work Environment
  • On-site role; incumbent must be physically present to open/close classified storage areas respond to alarm activations and escort visitors.
  • May require after-hours availability for security incident response.
  • Domestic travel may be required to support DCSA engagements or corporate security meetings.

Compensation
  • Base salary: $150000 - $180000 base commensurate with experience
  • Equity: Meaningful equity grant in a growth-stage defense technology company
