Job Summary
MalaceHR is seeking a General Maintenance Technician to support facility operations at a commercial/industrial site in Mattawan MI. This is a hands-on building maintenance position focused on general facility repairs upkeep and preventative maintenance.
The ideal candidate will have previous commercial or industrial building maintenance experience and be comfortable performing a variety of tasks including painting drywall repair basic plumbing carpentry door and hardware repairs and general building maintenance.
This position is not an HVAC-focused role. Candidates should instead have a broad general maintenance background and be comfortable using computerized work order systems. Experience with Maximo or another CMMS platform is strongly preferred.
- Perform routine building maintenance repairs and general facility upkeep.
- Complete interior and exterior painting patching and finishing work.
- Perform drywall repairs including patching holes replacing damaged sections and preparing surfaces for painting.
- Complete basic plumbing repairs including replacing faucets and fixtures clearing drains and repairing minor leaks.
- Perform basic carpentry and repair work involving doors cabinets furniture hardware and other building components.
- Repair and adjust doors locks hinges handles and other door hardware.
- Perform minor roof patching and exterior building repairs as needed.
- Support grounds maintenance activities including litter removal landscaping assistance snow removal and general exterior property upkeep.
- Respond to corrective and preventative maintenance work orders in a timely and professional manner.
- Utilize Maximo or another CMMS platform to receive work assignments update work order status document repairs record labor and materials and close completed work orders.
- Use computers tablets and mobile devices to communicate and document maintenance activities.
- Safely operate hand tools power tools and general maintenance equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of completed maintenance and repair activities.
- Identify facility issues and communicate additional repair needs to appropriate team members.
- Follow all site safety policies procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a clean organized and professional work environment.
- Assist with facility projects and other maintenance responsibilities as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience performing general building maintenance or repairs.
- Working knowledge of:
- Painting and surface preparation
- Drywall repair
- Basic plumbing
- Carpentry
- Door and hardware repair
- General building maintenance
- Basic computer skills and the ability to utilize electronic work order systems.
- Ability to safely operate common hand tools and power tools.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple maintenance requests.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to provide professional customer service while interacting with employees clients and facility occupants.
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders bend kneel crouch and perform physical maintenance work throughout the shift.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to participate in the required weekend rotation.
- 12 years of commercial or industrial building maintenance experience.
- Experience working in a commercial manufacturing industrial pharmaceutical or similar facility environment.
- Previous experience using Maximo.
- Experience with another Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or electronic work order platform.
- Experience with groundskeeping and landscaping equipment.
- Experience performing minor roofing repairs drain cleaning and door hardware adjustments.
- Experience operating lawn tractors snow removal equipment or similar maintenance equipment.
- General understanding of preventative maintenance practices.
