Job Summary
The Smithsonian Institution is the worlds largest museum education and research complex with 21 museums and the National position is located inone of the Smithsonian Institutions facilities serviced by the Office of Facilities Management (FM). The Office of Facilities Management (FM) is responsible for all Smithsonian facilities many of which are designated as historic and all of which are visited by millions of people each year.
The Facilities Services Supervisor is responsible for planning coordinating and implementation of all building/facilities services laborer custodial and materials handling operations within the zone/building.
In this position you will:
- Plan direct monitor and manage the operations of a zone/building in the day-to-day oversight of a large cleaning operation labor and moving services and special event coordination.
- Perform the full range of supervisory functions for Building and Facilities Services Custodial Laborer and Materials Handling staff.
- Use a maintenance management computer software system (Facility Center) for timekeeping purchasing work order management and reporting.
- Pass Pre-employment Background Investigation
- May need to complete a Probationary Period
- Maintain a Bank Account for Direct Deposit/Electronic Transfer
- Males born after 12/31/59 must be registered with Selective Service.
Conditions of Employment
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the physical ability to perform moderately heavy work including lifting and carrying heavy objects up to 50 lbs.; work outside in all weather conditions with exposure to dirt dust pollen and insects; climb ladders and stairs; and stand and walk for extended periods.

Additional Conditions of Employment:
Must have a valid State or District of Columbia drivers license. (You must submita copy with your application).
Must be available workdays that include holidays weekends and call back emergencies.
