Job Summary
PGS Worldwide is seeking a Facilities Controls Engineer in El Segundo California for a one-year onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will support the design maintenance reliability and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment and facility infrastructure. The engineer will serve as a technical resource for mechanical electrical plumbing automation and controls systems with particular emphasis on autoclaves and manufacturing equipment reliability.
Required Skills
- Bachelors degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of relevant experience; OR masters degree in STEM with 3 years of relevant experience; OR Ph.D. in STEM with 1 year of relevant experience.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: power systems electrical electronics construction mechanical design engineering facilities operations or aerospace.
- Experience with industrial autoclaves.
- Experience programming industrial controls using ladder logic structured text function block diagrams or similar methods.
- Experience with temperature and pressure control loops.
- Applied knowledge of Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint and Project.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills involving manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
- Ability to develop technical documentation procedures and equipment-maintenance requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required program access.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting high-rate manufacturing facilities from a maintenance or reliability function.
- Experience with composite manufacturing equipment such as 5-axis machining centers Automated Fiber Placement systems ultrasonic scanning systems paint booths or industrial ovens.
- Experience with electrical controls and 24-volt systems.
- Experience with industrial controllers from manufacturers such as Allen-Bradley Siemens Fanuc ABB Honeywell or Rexroth.
- I/O troubleshooting experience.
- Experience with VFDs and servo-controlled systems.
- Industrial IoT experience.
- Building Automation System experience including Trane Tracer Tridium or similar systems.
- CMMS/CAFM experience including Maximo and work-order tracking.
- Experience with boilers air compressors commercial air-handling equipment and refrigerant-based cooling equipment.
- Experience with large-scale electrical infrastructure including utility power transformers distribution equipment UPS systems diesel generators or 400 Hz power.
- Ability to interpret and revise building and utility drawings.
What Youll Do
- Support the design maintenance reliability and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment and facility infrastructure.
- Work with maintenance technicians to troubleshoot mechanical electrical plumbing automation and controls issues.
- Provide technical support for autoclaves and other critical manufacturing equipment.
- Review plans for new equipment installations and facility modifications for compatibility maintainability and technical suitability.
- Develop preventive maintenance plans and identify critical spare-parts requirements.
- Perform Root Cause and Corrective Action investigations.
- Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis and equipment health/risk assessments.
- Develop machine-monitoring strategies using vibration temperature and other condition-monitoring data.
- Improve equipment reliability performance and uptime.
- Develop Statements of Work and coordinate contractor activities.
- Review engineering deliverables for compliance with applicable codes standards and technical requirements.
- Prepare standard operating procedures training materials and equipment documentation.
- Support production maintenance quality and engineering teams with equipment and facility issues.
Work Schedule / Shift
- 9/80 work schedule.
- Full-time onsite in El Segundo California.
Pay
- $82.58 per hour.
