Summary:
The Extra Help Assistant Mens Soccer Coach assists in development and advancement of a competitive intercollegiate mens soccer program within the philosophy objectives policies and guidelines of NCAA Division II the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and Department of Athletics at the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS). The Extra Help Assistant Mens Soccer Coach reports to the Head Mens Soccer Coach. This extra help position will support the Head Coach in all areas during crucial recruiting months in the absence of a full-time assistant.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Teach and instruct advanced level skills techniques and game strategies inherent in the highest level of competitive play; developing UIS mens soccer student-athletes to successful competitive achievements. : 20%
  • Assist in recruiting highly successful mens soccer student-athletes who are both physically and academically talented who represent UIS and Department of Athletics with good character and who strive to graduate from UIS. : 20%
  • Assist in preparation for practices competitions and team travel. : 20%
  • Assist with fundraising marketing promotion and alumni and community engagement of UIS mens soccer and Department of Athletics at UIS. : 10%
  • Collaborate with athletic training staff academic support personnel strength and conditioning compliance staff and other campus personnel to enhance and support UIS mens soccer student-athlete experience. : 10%
  • Accountable for compliance with all NCAA Division II and Great Lakes Valley Conference rules; including submission of all compliance forms adherence to all compliance policies and procedures and attendance of mandatory NCAA rules education sessions. : 5%
  • Assist in coordinating camps/clinics in an effort to increase local and regional exposure of UIS and UIS soccer. : 5%
  • Attend GLVC UIS and Department of Athletics meetings as scheduled; hold office hours; complete required NCAA and UIS training. : 5%
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the departments strategic goals and on-going initiatives. : 5%
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    High school diploma required. Collegiate soccer playing experience required.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Bachelors or plan to complete Bachelors degree by end of January 2027 preferred.

    Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
    Must have a comprehensive understanding of athletic media relations with outstanding writing communication and interpersonal skills a working knowledge of in-game statistical program(s)
    Proficient in desktop publishing and website management with accompanying software
    Proficient with social media design & execution
    Ability to travel and work nights and weekends required
    High degree of integrity; demonstration of good independent judgment and the ability to respond quickly and work successfully under pressure and in a very open and public environment
    Must be able to meet deadlines and coordinate multiple tasks while working under minimal supervision
