An exciting new sushi concept is coming to Monmouth County New Jersey and were looking for an exceptional Executive Sushi Chef / Culinary Partner to help build it from the ground up.

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced sushi chef who wants more than their next kitchen position. Were looking for someone who wants creative ownership a seat at the table and the opportunity to share in the success of something theyre helping create.

The concept will bring a fresh playful perspective to sushicombining excellent ingredients and serious technique with a fun creative and approachable point of view. The goal is to create a restaurant that feels exciting and current without sacrificing the quality and craftsmanship behind the food.

As our founding Executive Sushi Chef youll have the freedom to design the menu shape the culinary identity build your team and establish the standards of the kitchen from day one.

Base Salary: $80000$120000 annually based on experience

Equity Opportunity: For the right candidate there is an opportunity to earn equity in the restaurant based on experience leadership and overall fit.

Equity would be offered in addition to base compensation creating meaningful long-term upside for a chef who wants to take an ownership mentality toward the concept.

You will work directly with ownership to bring the culinary side of the restaurant to life including:

• Creative direction of the opening menu

• Development of signature rolls nigiri sashimi hand rolls small plates sauces and specials

• Input into the overall culinary identity and guest experience

• Ingredient and seafood sourcing

• Recipe development costing and kitchen systems

• Establishing preparation presentation and quality standards

• Recruiting training and leading the sushi kitchen team

• Developing an efficient operation built for consistency and profitability

• Creating seasonal dishes specials and future menu evolutions

• Helping shape the restaurant as it grows

The ideal candidate will have:

• Significant professional sushi experience

• Executive Chef Head Sushi Chef or comparable leadership experience

• Exceptional knife skills and fish knowledge

• Strong understanding of sushi rice preparation sauces and traditional techniques

• Menu development experience

• Understanding of food costing margins and kitchen operations

• Strong sourcing and ingredient knowledge

• Experience hiring training and managing a culinary team

• High standards for consistency cleanliness and execution

• A creative point of view and genuine excitement about developing new dishes

• The ability to balance culinary ambition with an approachable commercially successful menu
