The purpose of this job is to assist one or more assigned executive branch agencies with analyzing planning preparing monitoring adjusting and evaluating all aspects of the agencys budget to fit into the overall executive budget according to strategic direction from the Governors Office. This position will work with the Department of Administration Legislative Branch Montana Consumer Counsel State Auditors Office and other general government agencies.
The analyst will:
Research current and planned appropriations bills reports relevant codes laws and trends
Formulate plans for upcoming budget adjustments with legislative fiscal staff agencies legislators and various committees
Assist agencies with preparing justifications solutions and projections for budgetary requests and adjustments
Present and defend the executive budget to the legislature
Maintain appropriations control for state government
Prepare projections for unexpected changes in the budget (i.e. amendments emergency appropriations and other unforeseen budget needs) and
Evaluate agency budget performance to identify improvements in program effectiveness and efficiency
Manage the budget development process for statewide fixed costs and other proprietary funds.
