The Hardware Engineering department leads in the mechanical and electrical hardware design development and production of weapons systems. We use state-of-the-art tools processes and technology with capabilities encompassing a broad range of technical disciplines including product engineering manufacturing technical services materials engineering analysis and test rapid hardware development/builds and configuration and data management documentation.

The Engineering Rapid Build Services (ERBS) department within Hardware Engineering is chartered to deliver agile bridge across Operations and Engineering providing solutions through the execution of quick-turn procurement and manufacturing.

ERBS is skilled in special test equipment and program trainers. ERBS executes prototyping and high-mix/low-rate procurement and fabrication activities with a focus on in-house electro-mechanical packaging support equipment and liquid cooling systems strive to minimize cycle times and provide best value through the utilization of dynamic and agile processes.

This role is for a Section Leader of the Rita Road Test Equipment and Prototyping Section for ERBS in Tucson purpose of this section is to support technicians who fabricate test and inspect electrical and mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies including cables chassis CCAs test racks and other assemblies in support of Test Equipment development and integration.

This role is located on-site in Tucson AZ.

What You Will Do

• Coordinate program staffing needs ensuring that each direct report has suitable work assignment and opportunities for growth and career advancement.

• Provide guidance direction mentoring

• Document and manage the processes roles and responsibilities of this team jointly with the development of the larger organizational processes and roles

• Collaborate with the Department Leader and other ERBS Section Leaders in execution of Hardware Engineering goals

• Oversee training to foster growth of direct reports and maintain/improve skillsets within the section

• Foster teamwork and interdependent execution of tasking

• Participate in performance development processes including goal setting performance reviews and merit allocation

• Directorate and Business Communication flow down

• Manage manpower needs including interviewing hiring and on-boarding
  Assist the lab lead(s) in enforcing lab policy and addressing compliance issues

• Provide oversight for shop operations and processes including process improvements

• Provide technical guidance for troubleshooting of fabrication test and inspection related issues

• Identify alternate tooling in response to obsolescence or availability issues
  Support functional initiatives within the department center and directorate as necessary

• Manage the Test Equipment Fabrication Pool

• Manage facilities upgrades

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a Bachelors in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience

• Experience in a technical leadership role

• Experienceworking in a functional leadership or program management role including managing schedules and resources to meet assigned milestones

• Ability to interface with other engineering disciplines non-technical disciplines and customers to resolve issues.

• Experience with executing on facilities or Capital projects (4-Panel creation Return on Investment calculation support execution)

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience in desktop computing tools (MS Excel MS Word MS PowerPoint and MS Project)

• Experience deploying resources effectively to satisfy demanding schedules
  Knowledge of industry specific tooling including identification and proper use

• Experience with IPC Standards e.g. J-STD-001 IPC-A-610 IPC/WHMA-A-620
  Familiarity with laboratory and test equipment

• Typically requires a Bachelors in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience in mechanical engineering experience developing mechanical components and mechanical systems

• Experience with Pro/E CREO or other CAD software (such as SolidWorks NX Fusion360 etc.)

• Experience with Windchill or other Product Data Management (PDM) systems (such as Siemens Teamcenter SolidWorks PDM Autodesk Vault etc.)

• Experience taking a design from concept through design fabrication and testing

The salary range for this role is 132400 USD - 251600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.
